DESCRIPTION:Polish Art Week and the 7th edition of Avant Art Festival Berlin return
from 22 to 28 June 2026 with an interdisciplinary programme dedicated to
contemporary experimental practices in music, performance, audiovisual art,
and community-based cultural exchange. Taking place across multiple venues
in Berlin, the festival brings together artists from Poland and leading
representatives of international independent scenes, creating a platform
for collaboration, improvisation, and dialogue across artistic disciplines.
The programme spans concerts, performances, audiovisual installations,
artist talks, workshops, and participatory events, reflecting a vision of
culture as a space for encounter and exchange. Festival venues include
Silent Green, Panke, Arkaoda, ZENNER, Kunsthaus KuLe, ACUD Club, Morphine
Raum, Panke Gallery, and the Polish Institute Berlin.
At the Polish Institute Berlin
As co-organiser of Polish Art Week, the Polish Institute Berlin hosts two
key programme elements.
The Institute’s gallery presents “Cubature: The Art Game”, an
immersive exhibition by the Polish studio Cyber kids on real. Expanding the
logic of an experimental puzzle game into physical space, the project
transforms the gallery into a playable environment composed of modular
structures, handcrafted scenography, analogue photography, and distinctive
sound design. Visitors are invited to enter and navigate the game’s
world, discovering how complexity can emerge from the simplest elements.
The Institute will also host “Culture in Times of Sharing and
Division”, a networking programme bringing together cultural
professionals from Berlin, Warsaw, Wrocław, and beyond. Two dedicated
sessions — Dance Scenes in Berlin and Warsaw and Visual Arts Scenes in
Berlin and Wrocław — will explore cross-border collaboration, local
cultural ecosystems, institutional strategies, and the challenges facing
cultural practitioners in rapidly changing political and economic contexts.
Programme Highlights
This year’s festival features performances and projects by
internationally acclaimed and emerging artists including Alva Noto,
Antonina Nowacka, Drew McDowall & Pedro Maia, Evicshen, Chris
Pitsiokos, Marta Warelis, Qba Janicki, Artur Rumiński, Jerzy Mączyński
& J. “MO’ONG” Santoso Pribadi, Andreya Casablanca, Takkak Takkak,
HULUBALANG, and many others.
The visual arts programme is complemented by “The Gospels of Aerial” by
the artistic duo Women-Antennas (Agata Konarska and Agata Lankamer), an
immersive installation combining video, gaming aesthetics, and speculative
fiction.
About the Festival
Polish Art Week is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to presenting
contemporary artistic practices connected to the Polish independent scene
in an international context. Avant Art Festival, founded in Wrocław in
2008, is one of Central Europe’s leading platforms for experimental and
avant-garde culture, operating across music, performance, visual arts, and
audiovisual practices. Together, the two festivals create a space where
local and international artistic communities can meet, collaborate, and
exchange ideas.
