Jakub J\u00f3zef Orli\u0144ski<\/strong>, a Polish countertenor described as \u201ea rare pearl sparkling among the countertenors of his generation\u201d will be performing for the first time at Bozar. Accompanied by the superb Il Pomo d’Oro ensemble, he will present a selection of arias from the Golden Age of Italian music.<\/p>\n

The works of Monteverdi, Cavalli, and Frescobaldi may be more familiar to the public than those of Netti, Moratelli, and Vitali. However, they all have in common that throughout the 17th century, they contributed to the sought-after vocal repertoire, which played a dynamic role in the rise of opera. The program for this very Italian concert also includes Tamburetta by Adam Jarz\u0119bski, a Polish composer and poet of the early Baroque period, and violinist in the court orchestra of King Sigismund III.<\/p>\n

A graduate of Warsaw’s Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (2014), New York’s prestigious Juilliard School of Music (2017), winner of a major Polish prize „Paszport Polityki” (2019) and multiple top international awards, the young Polish countertenor has already recorded 5 albums. His latest CD entitled „Farewells” (2022) presents a panorama of songs by Polish composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, ranging from Stanis\u0142aw Moniuszko and Mieczys\u0142aw Kar\u0142owicz to Henryk Czy\u017c and Pawe\u0142 Lukaszewski. Jakub J\u00f3zef Orli\u0144ski lives in Warsaw. In his spare time, he practices breakdance and other dance styles.<\/p>\n
