Be ready to encounter poets with an urge to shock, depict the fantastic, the impossible, the magic, different forms of infinite freedom, desire, and reject logical reason. Join this surrealist extravaganza from Thursday, September 26 to Saturday, September 28 for lunchtime debates, thought provoking performances, and poetry \u201c\u00e9criture automatique\u201d writing sessions in the public space.<\/p>\n

This year, at the invitation of the Polish Institute, Polish poet Ma\u0142gorzata Lebda will join the festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"Ma\u0142gorzata Lebda<\/strong> grew up in a village in the Beskid Mountains, Poland. She is the author of six poetry books, including the award-winning collections \u201cMatecznik\u201d and \u201cSny uckerm\u00e4rker\u00f3w\u201d (Gdynia Literary Award 2019). Her latest collection, \u201cMer de Glace\u201d (published by Wydawnictwo Warstwy in 2021), received Poland\u2019s most prestigious poetry award, the Wis\u0142awa Szymborska Award, in 2022. Her books have been translated into Czech (translated by Bogdan Trojak), Italian (translated by Marina Ciccarini), Serbian (translated by Biserka Raj\u010di\u0107), Ukrainian (translated by Yury Zavadsky), Slovenian (translated by Katarina \u0160alamun-Biedrzycka), Danish (translated by Frej Larsen and Pawe\u0142 Partyka), and Romanian (translated by Marina Ilie). She holds a doctorate in humanities and audiovisual arts. She is also a columnist, cultural animator, editor, researcher, and lecturer at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. An ultramarathon runner, in September 2021, she ran 1,113 kilometers along Poland\u2019s longest river, the Vistula, as part of the activist-poetic project \u201cCzytanie Wody\u201d (Reading Water). Her novel \u201c\u0141akome\u201d (published by Wydawnictwo Znak in 2023) marks her prose debut. The novel has been sold to four countries: the United Kingdom, Spain, France, and Serbia, with negotiations ongoing with additional countries (Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Ukraine\u2026). A film adaptation is in progress. The book was awarded the \u201cOdkrycia Empiku\u201d \u2013 the prize given by the largest chain of bookstores in Poland. She lives on a windy steep mountain ridge in Beskid S\u0105decki.<\/p>\n
