As a part of the Millenium Film Festival 2026<\/strong>, Weronika Mliczewska<\/strong>\u2019s film Child of Dust \/ Dziecko z py\u0142u<\/em> (2025) is presented in the international competition.

This sincere and intimate documentary feature follows the extraordinary and moving journey of Sang, a Vietnamese man who has always dreamed of meeting his father, an American soldier. Among the thousands of \u201cAmerasian\u201d children born during the Vietnam War, Sang has struggled all his life with his divided identity. The film explores the transgenerational trauma born of the Vietnam War and its lasting impact on individuals and families.<\/p>\n

\"\"Weronika Mliczewska<\/strong>, who studied filmmaking and anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London, holds a master\u2019s degree from the University of Warsaw and has \u00a0completed postgraduate studies at UCLA. She has spent most of her adult life abroad. Her work as a director has taken her to Uganda, Nigeria, Mexico, India, Vietnam, Spain, South Africa and the United States. She is also a published author, and her background in cultural anthropology makes other cultures a natural environment for her films, whose human-centred narratives resonate on a universal level. Weronika Mliczewska has received several awards and nominations for Child of Dust<\/em>, including the International Documentary Award at the Krak\u00f3w Film Festival, a Special Mention at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, the Best International Feature Documentary award at the Visioni dal Mondo Film Festival, as well as two audience awards \u2014 at the Chicago International Film Festival and the Chania Film Festival.<\/p>\n
