Assistant to Andrzej Wajda, he debuted with\u00a0The Third Part of the Night<\/em>\u00a0(1971). After the ban on\u00a0The Devil<\/em>\u00a0(1972) and the interruption of\u00a0On the Silver Globe<\/em>, he settled in France, where he made films such as\u00a0The Important Thing Is to Love<\/em>,\u00a0Possession<\/em>, and\u00a0The Public Woman<\/em>.
