At the Cirque Royal in Brussels, the stage will open onto a remarkable moment following the performance of the renowned B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne:\u00a0Bye Bye Baby Blackbird\u00a0and\u00a0Dionysos (Suite)<\/em>. The Polish Foundation for the Art of Dance will present the prestigious \u201cPerles de la Danse\u201d award to Piotr Nardelli, an outstanding Polish dancer, teacher, and choreographer whose artistic journey is deeply marked by the legacy of the great choreographer Maurice B\u00e9jart. The prize will be awarded by Bo\u017cena Kocio\u0142kowska, founder and president of the Foundation for the Art of Dance and former principal dancer of the Grand Theatre \u2013 Polish National Opera in Warsaw.<\/p>\n

The \u201cPerles de la Danse\u201d prize is awarded to Polish artists in recognition of their lifetime achievements in dance. To date, seventeen artists have been honored for their exceptional contribution to the history of Polish and international ballet. The statuette presented on this occasion is a miniature of the sculpture\u00a0Homage to Polish Ballet Artists, known as the \u201cTerpsichore of Warsaw,\u201d created by sculptor Zbigniew Stanuch.<\/p>\n

The Polish Institute \u00a0Brussels joins the Foundation for the Art of Dance on this occasion to honor Piotr Nardelli and extends its warmest congratulations to the laureate for this prestigious and fully deserved distinction.<\/p>\n

PIOTR NARDELLI<\/strong><\/p>\n

Piotr Nardelli graduated from the Roman Turczynowicz Ballet School in Warsaw in 1966. He was a soloist at the Grand Theatre \u2013 Polish National Opera in Warsaw, where he performed, among others, the roles of Paolo in\u00a0Francesca da Rimini<\/em>, Mercutio in\u00a0Romeo and Juliet<\/em>, and Basilio in\u00a0Don Quixote<\/em>, as well as solo parts in\u00a0Giselle,\u00a0Spartacus,\u00a0Cinderella, and\u00a0Swan Lake.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 1971, he began working at the Op\u00e9ra de Marseille and with Roland Petit\u2019s company. From 1973, he joined Maurice B\u00e9jart\u2019s Ballet of the 20th Century, performing in numerous productions from the company\u2019s repertoire. In 1975, he took part in the creation of the ballet\u00a0Bol\u00e9ro, choreographed by Maurice B\u00e9jart for Maya Plisetskaya at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.<\/p>\n

In 1979, he began a teaching career. In Brussels, he co-founded the Balletomania dance school with Andrzej Ziemski, while also teaching at Maurice B\u00e9jart\u2019s Mudra school. As a pedagogue, he has been regularly invited to collaborate with numerous companies around the world, including the Grand Theatre \u2013 Polish National Opera in Warsaw, the Grand Theatres of Pozna\u0144 and \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, the Silesian Opera and Wroc\u0142aw Opera, the Paris Opera, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Royal Swedish Ballet and the Royal Danish Ballet, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, the Naples Opera, the Finnish National Opera, the Bolshoi Theatre, opera houses in Berlin and Stuttgart, the Tokyo Ballet, the Shanghai Ballet, the Ballet de Santiago, and the Australian Ballet.<\/p>\n

As the only Polish artist authorized by Maurice B\u00e9jart to transmit his choreographies, he has notably staged such works as\u00a0Symphony No. 9,\u00a0Petrushka,\u00a0Bol\u00e9ro,\u00a0La Luna, and\u00a0La Vie parisienne<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n

The Polish Foundation for the Art of Dance will present the prestigious \u201cPerles de la Danse\u201d award to Piotr Nardelli, an outstanding Polish dancer, teacher, and choreographer whose artistic journey is deeply marked by the legacy of the great choreographer Maurice B\u00e9jart. The prize will be awarded by Bo\u017cena Kocio\u0142kowska, founder and president of the Foundation for the Art of Dance and former principal dancer of the Grand Theatre \u2013 Polish National Opera in Warsaw.\nThe \u201cPerles de la Danse\u201d prize is awarded to Polish artists in recognition of their lifetime achievements in dance. To date, seventeen artists have been honored for their exceptional contribution to the history of Polish and international ballet. The statuette presented on this occasion is a miniature of the sculpture\u00a0Homage to Polish Ballet Artists, known as the \u201cTerpsichore of Warsaw,\u201d created by sculptor Zbigniew Stanuch.\nThe Polish Institute \u00a0Brussels joins the Foundation for the Art of Dance on this occasion to honor Piotr Nardelli and extends its warmest congratulations to the laureate for this prestigious and fully deserved distinction.\nWe would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne for organizing this magnificent event and for the honor of including it in the program of its Brussels performances.\n[caption id=\"attachment_19922\" align=\"alignleft\" width=\"225\"] \u00a9 Piotr Nardelli's private archives[\/caption]\nPIOTR NARDELLI\nPiotr Nardelli graduated from the Roman Turczynowicz Ballet School in Warsaw in 1966. He was a soloist at the Grand Theatre \u2013 Polish National Opera in Warsaw, where he performed, among others, the roles of Paolo in\u00a0Francesca da Rimini, Mercutio in\u00a0Romeo and Juliet, and Basilio in\u00a0Don Quixote, as well as solo parts in\u00a0Giselle,\u00a0Spartacus,\u00a0Cinderella, and\u00a0Swan Lake.\nIn 1971, he began working at the Op\u00e9ra de Marseille and with Roland Petit\u2019s company. From 1973, he joined Maurice B\u00e9jart\u2019s Ballet of the 20th Century, performing in numerous productions from the company\u2019s repertoire. In 1975, he took part in the creation of the ballet\u00a0Bol\u00e9ro, choreographed by Maurice B\u00e9jart for Maya Plisetskaya at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.\nIn 1979, he began a teaching career. In Brussels, he co-founded the Balletomania dance school with Andrzej Ziemski, while also teaching at Maurice B\u00e9jart\u2019s Mudra school.
