Michal NOVOTNY, who is curating the exhibition, feels that what unites this imprecise region is the contradiction which lies at the very heart of the combination of pride and patriotism, mixed with a certain amount of shame, derived from the political experiences of the XXth century and the desire to catch up with western standards. He views it as the therapeutical reconstitution of surprises, victories, traumatic experiences and humiliations which the inhabitants of this part of Europe went through. The artistic practices presented reveal much about today\u2019s artistic scenes, where artists are free to roam, far from the geographical restrictions or institutional constraints which once defined the continent.<br \/>At the Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bozar.be\/en\/activities\/126703-somewhere-in-between\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Somewhere in Between<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>exhibition encapsulate the\u00a0<strong>Orient<\/strong>\u00a0travelling exhibition that will be presented in three European cities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in Riga, in the Kim? His artistic practice can be situated at the confluence of the visual arts, muscial composition and literature. In 2012, he published &#8222;Urz\u0105dzenie element\u00f3w&#8221; (The Economy of Elements), a theoretical work which examines the work of art as linguistic construction. In 2014, he began a cycle of animated films entitled &#8222;Die Kunst der Animation&#8221; (The Art of Animation). He views it as the therapeutical reconstitution of surprises, victories, traumatic experiences and humiliations which the inhabitants of this part of Europe went through. The artistic practices presented reveal much about today\u2019s artistic scenes, where artists are free to roam, far from the geographical restrictions or institutional constraints which once defined the continent.At the Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels the\u00a0Somewhere in Between\u00a0exhibition encapsulate the\u00a0Orient\u00a0travelling exhibition that will be presented in three European cities:\nin Riga, in the Kim?
