Polish composer\u00a0El\u017cbieta SIKORA<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will be present at the\u00a0Royal Conservatory of Brussels<\/strong>\u00a0(Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel) for a\u00a0class entitled<\/strong>\u00a0„Sound reality in music”<\/strong>, illustrated by fragments of her works\u00a0Lisboa, tramway 28<\/em>,\u00a0Chicago al fresco<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Axe rouge.<\/em>\u00a0She will then give a masterclass devoted to\u00a0musical technology<\/strong>\u00a0and reserved for\u00a0students at the conservatory\u00a0<\/strong>(those from\u00a0Katarina GLOWICKA<\/strong><\/a>’s composition class<\/strong>, to be more specific). The day will be brought to a close with a\u00a0concert<\/strong>\u00a0of Sikora’s own work, which she will join in with students from the conservatory.\u00a0\u00a0
The class and the concert will be partially open to anyone who wishes to acquaint themselves with the intriguing universe of concrete music, of which El\u017cbieta SIKORA, who wrote the opera\u00a0Madame Curie<\/em>, is a pioneer in Poland. \u00a0

<\/a>
Born in Lwow, Poland,\u00a0El\u017cbieta SIKORA<\/strong>\u00a0studied electronic music with Pierre Schaeffer and Francois Bayle in Paris and music composition with Tadeusz Baird and Zbigniew Rudzinski in Warszaw, Poland and with Betsy Jolas in Paris. In 1973 she founded, with W.Michniewski and K.Knittel the Group of Composers KEW. Scholarships from the French Government at IRCAM, Paris, the City of Mannheim, and the Kosciuszko Foundation at CCRMA (Computer Center for Research in Music and Acoustics), Stanford, have enriched the composer\u2019s international outlook.\u00a0
Elzbieta Sikora has received among others: II Prize for her opera „Ariadna”, at the Composers Competition in Dresden, Germany, Prix Magist\u00e8re for „Aquamarina” in Bourges, France. She has been awarded by SACEM, received the SACD Prize Nouveau Talent Musique for her opera \u201cL\u2019Arrache-coeur\u201d, in Paris, France and K\u00fcnstlerinnenpreise in Heidelberg, Germany. She was awarded by l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie du Disque Lyrique in Paris and received the French Distinction, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.\u00a0
Elzbieta Sikora lives and works in Paris, France. Her catalog includes more than thirty major works among which two operas, three ballets, several symphonic works, chamber music works , electroacoustic and mixed musics. She has received numerous prizes.<\/p>\n

Katarina GLOWICKA<\/strong>
A composer and pedagogue, she runs the class on electronic music and composition at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. She regularly invites musicians from around the world to collaborate with the conservatory, recently inviting\u00a0Marek CHO\u0141ONIEWSKI<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Go\u015bka ISPHORDING<\/a>\u00a0to be part of her classes.<\/a><\/p>\n

In 1973 she founded, with W.Michniewski and K.Knittel the Group of Composers KEW. Scholarships from the French Government at IRCAM, Paris, the City of Mannheim, and the Kosciuszko Foundation at CCRMA (Computer Center for Research in Music and Acoustics), Stanford, have enriched the composer\u2019s international outlook.\u00a0Elzbieta Sikora has received among others: II Prize for her opera \"Ariadna\", at the Composers Competition in Dresden, Germany, Prix Magist\u00e8re for \"Aquamarina\" in Bourges, France. She has been awarded by SACEM, received the SACD Prize Nouveau Talent Musique for her opera \u201cL\u2019Arrache-coeur\u201d, in Paris, France and K\u00fcnstlerinnenpreise in Heidelberg, Germany. She was awarded by l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie du Disque Lyrique in Paris and received the French Distinction, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.\u00a0Elzbieta Sikora lives and works in Paris, France. Her catalog includes more than thirty major works among which two operas, three ballets, several symphonic works, chamber music works , electroacoustic and mixed musics.
