The\u00a0Meccore String Quartet<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the young Polish chamber music groups which attracts the most votes. Active since 2007, its members are graduates of the Warsaw and Poznan Conservatories of Music, holders of scholarships from various institutions, who have taken several master classes \u2013 notably at the Chapelle musicale Reine Elisabeth \u2013 and have won many musical competitions. The quartet and its individual members are the beneficiaries of the \u2018M\u0142oda Polska\u2019 scholarship, awarded by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The Meccore String Quartet will be performing on Sunday\u00a027 ovember\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a011:00\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0Bozar\u00a0<\/strong>as part of\u00a0BOZAR SUNDAYS<\/a>, the Sunday concerts which aim to showcase the rising stars on the musical scene.

The\u00a0String Quartet<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0op. 27 is the only string quartet composed by\u00a0Edvard Grieg<\/strong>\u00a0(1843-1907). Written in 1877-78, it was created on 29 October 1878. This melancholic and dramatic piece of music was written in the purest romantic style.<\/p>\n

Karol Szymanowski<\/strong>\u00a0put the finishing touches to his second\u00a0String Quartet,<\/em>\u00a0op. 56 at the end of November or at the beginning of December 1927, at the end of several weeks\u2019 work. It had to wait another two years to be performed in Warsaw. Viewed as one of the most difficult and avant-garde pieces of music in Karol Szymanowski\u2019s oeuvre, both in terms of the arrangement and composition and expressiveness, this piece is the perfect example of the way folklore was integrated into a classical framework in order to create a resolutely modern language (as one can also find in music by Bartok and Enesco). For this string quartet, Szymanowski incorporates music typically found in the Podhale mountains into a pure work of music.
