The Polish\u00a0<\/span>Short Waves<\/strong>\u00a0film festival and the culture centre\u00a0<\/span>Circa<\/strong>\u00a0from Ghent have brought their creative juices together and will organise the open air event the\u00a0<\/span>Longest Night<\/strong>\u00a0on 21 December 2015. This event is dedicated to Polish and Belgian film. Six Polish shorts will be on the programme, as well as a documentary of the Ghent art collective\u00a0<\/span>KAPOW<\/a>. The Polish director\u00a0<\/span>Katarzyna Gondek<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will be present to present her film\u00a0<\/span>FIGURE<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and to have a Q&A with the public after the screening.<\/span>

Programme<\/strong>
The screening of the Polish shorts starts at 19:00. At 21:00 follows a documentary by KAPOW. These are the 6 Polish shorts:<\/span>

HOME<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(Agnieska Borowa – animation – 14 min – 2014)<\/span>
The Heroine of this austere animation comes back to a house built from memories. In order to move one step further, she needs to get over the past.<\/span>

MILKY BROTHER<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(Vahram Mkitaryan – Fiction \u2013 29 min \u2013 2014)
Seto, a ten year old boy from an Armenian village, dreams about having siblings. His family is struck by a tragedy and his brother is literally replaced by a small lamb.

INVISIBLE<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(Zofia Pr\u0119gowska – Documentary \u2013 22 min \u2013 2014)
Mrs. Krystyna is 90 years old and has an enormous poetic output in her notebooks. She is still taking notes of her visions of the world, although she can barely see it. She is currently preparing to go on a poetry recitation contest.

A very cheeky animation anout people.

SURVEY ABOUT MEN<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(Mateusz Glowacki – Documentary \u2013 30 min \u2013 2014)
A survey about men or a documentary about women. Another futile attempt to understand the fair sex and an engaging film at the same time.

FIGURE<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(Katarzyna Gondek – Documentary \u2013 9 min \u2013 2015)
It\u2019s white and windy all around. A gigantic figure emerges from behind the snow curtain and hits the road. It passes towns, villages, houses to land on top of the hill, next to spiders, saints and bumper cars. FIGURE is a surreal tale about creating myths, about religious kitsch and about the desire for greatness. Who is our protagonist? The word\u2019s largest sacral miniature park resident. A gigantic contradiction.
+++ This film will be screened in the presence of the director Katarzyna Gondek. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the public.

Katarzyna Gondek<\/strong>
Katarzyna Gondek (1982) works in the field of cinematography and literature. She studied film science at the Adam Mickiewicz University of Pozna\u0144 and she completed a course in documentary making at the Wajda School. She looks for the surreal in her creations. Her films are screened and receive praise around the globe.\u00a0Figure<\/em>, which she will present in Ghent, is her newest film. Her previous film\u00a0Hosanna<\/em>\u00a0was already screened in\u00a0Brussels<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Li\u00e8ge<\/a>.
