The short film\u00a0In the corner<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>by young Polish director\u00a0Maciej Bartosz KRUK<\/strong>\u00a0is in competition in the category\u00a0European fictional films<\/strong>\u00a0in the 21st\u00a0<\/sup>edition of the\u00a0Leuven International Short Film Festival<\/strong>. The film will be screened on Thursday\u00a03 December<\/strong>\u00a0at 19:45\u00a0with the director in attendance<\/strong>.

In the corner<\/strong>\u00a0(W naro\u017cniku – 20 min – Poland \u2013 in Polish with subtitles in English)
Iza, 20, is a promising boxer. She has put her heart and soul into preparing for an important fight, under the watchful eye of her father, who is also her trainer and with whom she shares\u00a0 a passion for boxing. Just before the match, her father suggests that she fake the outcome of the match, in exchange for which an important promoter will be able to help them take part in a real championship in the future. Iza must choose between her dream and the values which she holds dear.

In the corner\u00a0<\/em>is Maciej Bartosz Kruk’s graduation project. He studies at the Gdynia Film School. This is his first film as a director.

Leuven International Short Film Festival<\/strong>\u00a0
The 21st edition of the festival begins on Friday 27 November. It\u2019s a festival which, from the very beginning, has been all about discovery, surprise, creativity and new talents. This year it will be showing no fewer than 240 films in the space of 9 days, presented in competition in different categories. What\u2019s more, it is an Oscar-qualifying festival, which means that the winners of the various prizes are pre-selected for the 2017 Oscars!<\/p>\n
