Newspapers, periodicals, blogs, comic books, all go together to form this network of channels. Journalism is much more than compiling facts or relating events: it involves narration, making choices within the hierarchical organisation of elements and placing language centre stage in order to give it all the space required to adequately express its subject matter.\u00a0<strong>The workshop event\u00a0<em>Raconter le r\u00e9el \u2013 Le journalisme litt\u00e9raire en Pologne et en Belgique (Telling it like it is \u2013 literary journalism in Poland and in Belgium)\u00a0<\/em>wants to use these debates to focus on the means of expression afforded to journalists.<br \/><\/strong>The tradition of literary reportage is very important in Poland: from\u00a0<strong>Ryszard KAPU\u015aCI\u0143SKI<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Hanna KRALL<\/strong>\u00a0to the establishment of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/instytutr.pl\/pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institute of Literary Reportage<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>Mariusz SZCZYGIE\u0141<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Wojciech TOCHMAN<\/strong>, this literary form is in rude health, notably in the weekly printed press. In Belgium, it is less well-known, perhaps beacuse it is expressed through different channels. Blogs and comics in particular come to mind, or the very new mooks (a contraction of the words \u2018magazine\u2019 and \u2018books\u2019), such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.24h01.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">24h01<\/a>, which prioritise long formats. His five books have been very successful in Poland and his biography of Ryszard Kapuszczy\u0144ski has been translated into several languages (it\u2019s published in French by Les Ar\u00e8nes)<br \/><a name=\"WJ\"><\/a><br \/><strong>Wojciech JAGIELSKI<br \/><\/strong>War correspondent in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Chechnya and Georgia for the Polish Press Agency (PAP) and the daily\u00a0<em>Gazeta Wyborcza<\/em>, he collaborates regularly with\u00a0<em>Le Monde<\/em>\u00a0and the BBC. His books have been put forward several times for the NIKE prize, which is the most prestigious Polish prize for literature.<br \/><a name=\"AL\"><\/a><br \/><strong>Alain LALLEMAND<br \/><\/strong>A renowned reporter for the daily\u00a0<em>Le Soir<\/em>\u00a0and lecturer at the Universit\u00e9 catholique de Louvain. Over a quarter of a century, either as an investigative journalist or war reporter, he has traversed more than 70 countries coming face-to-face with half a dozen conflicts. He is the author of a practical manual on journalistic accounts,\u00a0<em>Le Journalisme narratif en pratique<\/em>.<br \/><a name=\"ST\"><\/a><br \/><strong>Skan TRIKI<br \/><\/strong>Journalist for the mook 24h01, for the information site Ijsberg. A huge admirer of Homer, the history of journalism and great reporters such as Jules Vall\u00e8s, Gaston Leroux and Joseph Kessel, he sees himself as a disciple learning to look at and understand human nature, all with the goal of telling the story of man.
