The publication of a brand\u00a0new translation\u00a0<\/strong>of the entire fictional oeuvre of\u00a0Bruno SCHULZ\u00a0<\/strong>(1892-1942) is a veritable phenomenon in the world of Francophone publishing. Until now, readers have only been able to get hold of famous writer’s exceptional work through a translation by four different translators consisting of parts of essays (1961-1974). This is what prompted\u00a0Alain VAN CRUGTEN<\/strong>\u00a0to embark on a new translation of this writer who is, unfairly, known only to a few. The book came out in January, published by the wonderful publisher\u00a0L\u2019Age d\u2019Homme<\/a>\u00a0(Lausanne) and is entitled\u00a0RECITS DU TREIZIEME MOIS<\/em>. The publication was greeted with delight by readers of Francophone literature, as they now have the chance to rediscover an unparalleled literary world and they will also have the opportunity to hear how the project got started by attending an audience with the translator on Monday\u00a02 March\u00a0<\/strong>2015 at\u00a013:00<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0Foire du Livre de Bruxelles<\/a>, when the translator will be in conversation with\u00a0Richard MILLER<\/strong>, philosopher, former minister and editor, and founder of the\u00a0Editions du CEP<\/a>, which publishes the play\u00a0Bruno Schulz ou La Grande H\u00e9r\u00e9sie<\/em>, which were also written by Alain Van Crugten

Bruno SCHULZ<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the standout Polish poets of the 20th century. A Jew by faith and of Polish nationality, Schulz published two collections of dream-like short stories which go to make a coherent whole both in terms of topics as well as the obsessions which drive him. After studying Germanic Languages and Literature followed by Slavonic Studies, he taught Slavonic Literature and Comparative Literature at the Universit\u00e9 Libre de Bruxelles. Recently awarded the Prix de Phare du Nord 2013 for his French translation of\u00a0La Langue de ma m\u00e8re<\/em>\u00a0by Tom Lanoye, he began his career as a translator with the plays and prose of\u00a0Stanis\u0142aw Ignacy Witkiewicz<\/strong>. We also have him to thank, amongst many other things, for translations of the works of Hugo Claus,\u00a0Tadeusz R\u00f3\u017cewicz<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Marian Pankowski<\/strong>. A Jew by faith and of Polish nationality, Schulz published two collections of dream-like short stories which go to make a coherent whole both in terms of topics as well as the obsessions which drive him. Recently awarded the Prix de Phare du Nord 2013 for his French translation of\u00a0La Langue de ma m\u00e8re\u00a0by Tom Lanoye, he began his career as a translator with the plays and prose of\u00a0Stanis\u0142aw Ignacy Witkiewicz. We also have him to thank, amongst many other things, for translations of the works of Hugo Claus,\u00a0Tadeusz R\u00f3\u017cewicz\u00a0and\u00a0Marian Pankowski.
