The Visegrad Group (also referred to as the &#8222;Visegrad Four&#8221; or simply as &#8222;V4&#8221;) reflects the efforts of four Central European countries &#8211; Czechia, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary &#8211; to cooperate in many areas of common interest within the framework of pan-European integration. The activities of the group are coordinated by the Foreign Ministries of the V4 countries, but also include all levels of government and state administration. With the establishment of the International Visegrad Fund in 2000 &#8211; the only institutionalised form of Visegrad cooperation so far &#8211; non-governmental organisations and civic initiatives for 'bottom-up&#8217; building of a regional alliance began to enjoy support. The activities of the Visegrad Group aim at strengthening stability and prosperity in the Central European region. The V4 countries see cooperation as a challenge and its success as the best proof of their ability to integrate into structures such as the European Union. The first High Level Summit took place in the city of Visegrad on 15 February 1991.
