There is one literary work from each EU Member State in the original language and the English translation. Various literary genres \u2013 novels, short stories, poetry, comics, and essays \u2013 present a wide variety of perspectives and address a global audience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Poland is represented in this project by the work Psalmy by the poet Julia Fiedorczuk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Julia Fiedorczuk<\/strong>\u00a0is a writer, poet, translator, researcher, practitioner of ecocriticism, and author of the School of Ecopoetics\u2019s programme. An important topic in her works is the relationship between human beings and their planetary environment. She is affiliated to the Institute of English Studies at Warsaw University, and has published essays, short story collections and six volumes of poetry. The latest,\u00a0<em>Psalmy<\/em>\u00a0(Psalms), was awarded the Wis\u0142awa Szymborska Prize, Poland\u2019s most prestigious prize for poetry. Her works have been translated into over 20 languages.<\/p>\n<p><em>Psalms<\/em>\u00a0speak on behalf of the excluded \u2014 people, plants, animals and landscapes. They are expressions of mourning for those irrevocably lost species and ecosystems. The poems seek to correlate Biblical poetics with modern discourses (academic, social media and Internet jargons) to reclaim the meanings of essential words.
