The Faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication of the Universit\u00e9 Libre de Bruxelles and the Polish Institute in Brussels invite you to a lecture by Professor Pawe\u0142 Pr\u00f3chniak<\/strong> about the great Ukrainian-speaking romantic poet Taras Schevchenko and his Last Testament<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Schevchenko<\/strong> was a well-known poet in his country and today his verses are used as slogans in demonstrations against Russian aggression. He was also a painter and suffered an exceptional fate as a slave turned timeless national figure.<\/p>\n

Pawe\u0142 Pr\u00f3chniak<\/strong>, born in 1966, is a literary researcher, literary anthropologist, literary critic, and professor at the Institute of Polish Philology at the Pedagogical University of Krak\u00f3w.<\/p>\n
