DESCRIPTION:'THE METAPHYSICS OF THE SIGN' exhibition at Gallery Platan
Opening: September 4. 18:00Opening speech by Katica Kocsis, art writer
Andrzej Leśnik is one of the leading figures in contemporary Polish
painting today, whose art lies at the exciting intersection of geometric
abstraction and conceptual thinking. His works not only provide a visual
experience but also invite the viewer to engage in deep meditation on the
relationship between form and meaning. Throughout his career, he has
consistently explored the deeper interconnections of sign systems, often
achieving maximum expressiveness through minimalist means. The artist’s
works are characterized by a deliberate reduction of color, which allows
the purity of forms and compositional order to take center stage.
Leśnik’s painting is free of superfluous details; instead, it focuses on
a precise analysis of structure and spatial relationships. His works often
explore the “metaphysics of the sign,” where the signs applied to the
canvas take on a life of their own and open up new dimensions of reality.
The repetition, displacement, and juxtaposition of these signs create a
metaphysical space where the viewer can discover the hidden layers of the
images through their own experiences and associations. For him, the
creative process is a kind of spiritual quest that seeks a perfect balance
between emotional intensity and rational order. This exhibition offers a
special selection from the major stages of his oeuvre, highlighting the
artist’s creative evolution and the maturity of his style.
The exhibition organized in collaboration with the Gallery Łazorczyk
