He managed to \u2018tame\u2019 the jazz music and introduce it to music charts, television screens or\u2026 the popular press.\u201d (Gazeta Wyborcza)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bass and double bass player Wojtek Mazolewski embarked on his adventure with improvised music after playing punk rock. He became well-known as the leader of different groups like Pink Freud, Bassisters Orchestra, Freeyo and the Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet.<\/p>\n<p>With his flagship band Pink Freud, Mazolewski published the album Punk Freud in 2007, which launched a major breakthrough in the reception of jazz in Poland \u2013 its echoes reverberating to this very day. After some line-up changes both in Pink Freud and Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet he started a new chapter of his musical biography in 2009. The success of his albums Monster of Jazz (2010), Horse and Power (2012), Smells Like Tape Spirit (2012) and Wojtek in Czechoslovakia (2012) opened the way to concert tours throughout Europe, Japan, the United States, Mexico, Morocco or Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>With Pink Freud he received three times the prestigious Jazz Forum award in the &#8222;Best Electric Band&#8221; category, but earned appreciation of the popular media as well, receiving several prizes of the Polish Radio 3. Mazolewski has been a musical partner of musicians as Tim Bern, Tomasz Sta\u0144ko, John Zorn, or Peter Kowald, just to name a few.\u00a0He has composed music for theatrical shows and alternative movies, runs his own radio shows at Polish Radio and Chilli Zet Radio and, most recently, he composed tracks for a series of audio books.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After working on it in the past three years, Polka, the quintet\u2019s sixth studio album was released in October 2014.
