Nicolas Grospierre<\/strong> geh\u00f6rt zu den bedeutendsten polnischen Gegenwartsk\u00fcnstlern. Er kam 1975 in Genf zur Welt, wuchs in Paris auf und lebt in Warschau. Er wird vor allem mit der Fotografie assoziiert, die er seit f\u00fcnfundzwanzig Jahren betreibt, doch sein Werk umfasst auch Installationen, Objekte, Kunstb\u00e4nde und Videofilme. Ein Thema, das Grospierre besch\u00e4ftigt, ist die Utopie des grenzenlosen Wachstums. Am deutlichsten zeigt sich das Illusorische der modernistischen Ideale in Architektur und Stadtplanung, die einen zentralen Gegenstand von Grospierres Interesse bilden. Daf\u00fcr erhielt er zahlreiche Preise, darunter den Goldenen L\u00f6wen der Architektur-Biennale in Venedig (zusammen mit Kobas Laksa). Sie f\u00fchrten zu der Publikationsreihe Modern Forms<\/em> im Prestel Verlag sowie Ausstellungen in renommierten Institutionen wie der Architecture Association in London.<\/p>\n

Die in Photography Degrowth <\/em>formulierte Kritik ist keine totale, es geht nicht um die Zerst\u00f6rung oder Abschaffung des Kapitalismus, sondern vielmehr um vertiefte Reflexion, einen Moment des Nachdenkens dar\u00fcber, wohin unsere Zivilisation f\u00fchrt, was ver\u00e4ndert werden muss und was beibehalten werden kann, weil es gro\u00dfartig und inspirierend ist.<\/p>\n

Die Ausstellung Photography Degrowth <\/em>versammelt eine Reihe von ikonischen Fotografien und Objekten Grospierres, die erg\u00e4nzt werden durch neue, im Polnischen Institut erstmals pr\u00e4sentierte Arbeiten. Jedes der gezeigten Werke bezieht sich auf eine seltsame und nicht offensichtliche Weise auf die Idee des Postwachstums und kreist dabei um Architektur. Neben Werken wie Kolekcja, kt<\/em>\u00f3<\/em>ra ro\u015bnie<\/em>\u00a0(Die Sammlung, die w\u00e4chst, 2014 und fortlaufend) oder Dom, kt<\/em>\u00f3<\/em>ry ro\u015bnie<\/em>\u00a0(Das Haus, das w\u00e4chst, 2012) werden die Objekte BBL Unltd<\/em>\u00a0(2020) und Axonocity<\/em>\u00a0(2018) gezeigt. Zu den erstmals \u00f6ffentlich gezeigten Arbeiten geh\u00f6ren Tetranoi<\/em>\u00a0(2021) und\u00a0Carceri Imaginari\u00a0(2022).<\/p>\n

Jede Einzelausstellung Grospierres ist eine aus einzelnen Elementen komponierte autonome Ganzheit, die dem Besucher das Gef\u00fchl vermittelt, eine andere r\u00e4umliche und mentale Dimension zu betreten. Dieses Gef\u00fchl ist nicht leicht in Worte zu fassen, aber anders als es die von Pressetexten begleiteten flachen Reproduktionen von Architektur-Fotografien vermitteln k\u00f6nnen, handelt es sich um eine sinnliche und einzigartige Erfahrung. Das gilt auch f\u00fcr Photography Degrowth<\/em>, die Pr\u00e4sentation von Fotografien in einer Spirale, die \u201er\u00fcckw\u00e4chst\u201c, sich entfaltet, zusammenf\u00e4llt und m\u00e4andert, sich den Raum der Galerie aneignet und \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigt und fasziniert wie die Idee des grenzenlosen Fortschritts und Wachstums.<\/p>\n

Nicolas Grospierre, Photography Degrowth<\/p>\n

Nicolas Grospierre<\/strong> is one of the most outstanding contemporary Polish artists. He was born in Geneva in 1975, grew up in Paris and lives in Warsaw. He is primarily associated with photography, which he has been practising for twenty-five years, but his work also includes installations, objects, art books and video films. One theme that has preoccupied Grospierre since the beginning of the 21st century is the utopia of limitless growth. The illusory nature of modernist ideals is most evident in architecture and urban planning, which form a central object of Grospierre’s interest. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Golden Lion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice (together with Kobas Laksa). They resulted also in the publication series Modern Forms by Prestel Verlag and exhibitions at renowned institutions such as the Architecture Association in London.<\/p>\n

The critique formulated by Grospierre in Photography Degrowth is not a total one, it does not concern either the destruction or abolition of capitalism. It is rather a deeper reflection, a moment of thought about where all this is leading, what needs to be changed and what can be kept because it is great and inspiring.<\/p>\n

Each of the exhibited works relates in a subversive and non-obvious way to the idea of post-growth while circulating around architecture. In addition to works such as The Collection that Grows (2014 and on-going) and The House that Grows (2012), there will be also presented BBL Unltd (2020) and Axonocity (2018). Among the works being shown for the first time are Tetranoi (2021) and Carceri Imaginari (2022).<\/p>\n

The Photography Degrowth exhibition collects a number of Grospierre’s iconic photographs and objects, which are complemented by new realisations premiered at the Polish Institute D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/p>\n

Each individual exhibition by Nicolas Grospierre is an autonomous whole composed of individual elements, giving the feeling of entering another spatial and mental dimension. This feeling is not easy to put into words, but unlike the flat reproductions accompanied by press releases, it is a sensual and unique experience. This is also the case with Photography Degrowth, the presentation of photographs in a spiral that „grows back”, unfolds, collapses and meanders. Overtaking the gallery space it stunnigly fascinates like the idea of limitless progress and growth.<\/p>\n

Er wird vor allem mit der Fotografie assoziiert, die er seit f\u00fcnfundzwanzig Jahren betreibt, doch sein Werk umfasst auch Installationen, Objekte, Kunstb\u00e4nde und Videofilme. Ein Thema, das Grospierre besch\u00e4ftigt, ist die Utopie des grenzenlosen Wachstums. Am deutlichsten zeigt sich das Illusorische der modernistischen Ideale in Architektur und Stadtplanung, die einen zentralen Gegenstand von Grospierres Interesse bilden. Daf\u00fcr erhielt er zahlreiche Preise, darunter den Goldenen L\u00f6wen der Architektur-Biennale in Venedig (zusammen mit Kobas Laksa). Sie f\u00fchrten zu der Publikationsreihe Modern Forms im Prestel Verlag sowie Ausstellungen in renommierten Institutionen wie der Architecture Association in London.\nDie in Photography Degrowth formulierte Kritik ist keine totale, es geht nicht um die Zerst\u00f6rung oder Abschaffung des Kapitalismus, sondern vielmehr um vertiefte Reflexion, einen Moment des Nachdenkens dar\u00fcber, wohin unsere Zivilisation f\u00fchrt, was ver\u00e4ndert werden muss und was beibehalten werden kann, weil es gro\u00dfartig und inspirierend ist.\nDie Ausstellung Photography Degrowth versammelt eine Reihe von ikonischen Fotografien und Objekten Grospierres, die erg\u00e4nzt werden durch neue, im Polnischen Institut erstmals pr\u00e4sentierte Arbeiten. Jedes der gezeigten Werke bezieht sich auf eine seltsame und nicht offensichtliche Weise auf die Idee des Postwachstums und kreist dabei um Architektur. Neben Werken wie Kolekcja, kt\u00f3ra ro\u015bnie\u00a0(Die Sammlung, die w\u00e4chst, 2014 und fortlaufend) oder Dom, kt\u00f3ry ro\u015bnie\u00a0(Das Haus, das w\u00e4chst, 2012) werden die Objekte BBL Unltd\u00a0(2020) und Axonocity\u00a0(2018) gezeigt. Zu den erstmals \u00f6ffentlich gezeigten Arbeiten geh\u00f6ren Tetranoi\u00a0(2021) und\u00a0Carceri Imaginari\u00a0(2022).\nJede Einzelausstellung Grospierres ist eine aus einzelnen Elementen komponierte autonome Ganzheit, die dem Besucher das Gef\u00fchl vermittelt, eine andere r\u00e4umliche und mentale Dimension zu betreten. He was born in Geneva in 1975, grew up in Paris and lives in Warsaw. He is primarily associated with photography, which he has been practising for twenty-five years, but his work also includes installations, objects, art books and video films. One theme that has preoccupied Grospierre since the beginning of the 21st century is the utopia of limitless growth. The illusory nature of modernist ideals is most evident in architecture and urban planning, which form a central object of Grospierre's interest. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Golden Lion at the Architecture Biennale in Venice (together with Kobas Laksa). They resulted also in the publication series Modern Forms by Prestel Verlag and exhibitions at renowned institutions such as the Architecture Association in London.\nThe critique formulated by Grospierre in Photography Degrowth is not a total one, it does not concern either the destruction or abolition of capitalism. It is rather a deeper reflection, a moment of thought about where all this is leading, what needs to be changed and what can be kept because it is great and inspiring.\nEach of the exhibited works relates in a subversive and non-obvious way to the idea of post-growth while circulating around architecture. In addition to works such as The Collection that Grows (2014 and on-going) and The House that Grows (2012), there will be also presented BBL Unltd (2020) and Axonocity (2018). Among the works being shown for the first time are Tetranoi (2021) and Carceri Imaginari (2022).\nThe Photography Degrowth exhibition collects a number of Grospierre's iconic photographs and objects, which are complemented by new realisations premiered at the Polish Institute D\u00fcsseldorf.\nEach individual exhibition by Nicolas Grospierre is an autonomous whole composed of individual elements, giving the feeling of entering another spatial and mental dimension.
