The Days of Polish Cinema in Ukraine<\/strong> is the project of the Polish Institute in Kyiv. The program will traditionally present the six best Polish films made during two recent years. Viewers will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the most recent works of directors whose films had been presented in Ukraine during the Days of Polish Cinema and at other film festivals, such as Borys Lankosz, Krzysztof Kopczy\u0144ski, Kinga D\u0119bska, Ma\u0142gorzata Szumowska, and Dariusz Gajewski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11th Days of Polish Cinema will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the world famous Polish director Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski. The „Lira” cinema in Kyiv will show the master’s films made during Polish and French periods of his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We invite you to visit the 11th Days of Polish Cinema in Ukrainian cities and wish you vivid cinematographic impressions and new discoveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special guests are Wlodzimierz Niderhaus and Janusz Majewski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 06.10 at 17:00 a press conference on the opening of the 11th Days of Polish Cinema will be held in the Cinematheque hall of the „Kyiv” cinema<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fabian meets Modesta, an intriguing jazz singer, who joins the band. At a certain day Modesta suddenly disappears and the love story turns into a spy one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gradually, Marta and Kasia become closer to each other and regain their relationship, which gives rise to a series of tragicomic situations. „My Daughters, Cows” is a warm story about family relationships, devoid of falsehood and cheap emotionality. It is as truthful as the life itself, sometimes sad, sometimes funny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mixed documentary and feature film „To my Father” is the story of Adam Bandrowski as seen through the eyes of his three-year-old daughter Alina. Bandrowski was one of millions of victims of Stalin’s repressions, among which there were more than 100,000 USSR citizens of Polish origin. The film is a hommage and glorification of all victims of the Vinnytsia massacres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An innocent lie brings about an avalanche of suspicions and results in the Swedish social services taking the beloved daughter from the Polish couple and giving her to foster parents. „Strange Heaven” by Dariusz Gajewski, the author of the award-winning „Warsaw”, is based on actual events and keeps viewers on the edges of their seats as a real thriller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film is a cinematographic research of the long-lasting conflict between Hasids and the residents of Uman. It studies the tension that grows between the pilgrims and the local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of them tries to find their own way to accept the painful fact. The prosecutor is afraid of the possible suicide of his daughter and sends her to a clinic where Anna, the psychologist, summons spirits from the afterworld to communicate with the living. One day Anna tells them that she has established contact with Olga’s late mother. Now, at the wish of the deceased, her daughter and husband have to review their attitude towards life and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will traditionally present the six best Polish films made during two recent years. Viewers will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the most recent works of directors whose films had been presented in Ukraine during the Days of Polish Cinema and at other film festivals, such as Borys Lankosz, Krzysztof Kopczy\u0144ski, Kinga D\u0119bska, Ma\u0142gorzata Szumowska, and Dariusz Gajewski.\n11th Days of Polish Cinema will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the world famous Polish director Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski.
