Publishers’ Forum in Lviv is a significant public literary event in Ukraine. Such prominent Polish cultural figures as Janusz Glowacki and Andrzej Stasiuk are among the guests of this year’s event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Janusz Glowacki<\/strong> is a prose writer, playwright and screenwriter. He debuted in 1960 in the „Almanach M\u0142odych” publication. His real success came after he together with Marek Piwowski wrote the screenplay for the „The Cruise” film, which was recognized as the best Polish film comedy. Just two weeks before the martial law was introduced in Poland, i.e. in December, 1981, Glowacki had gone to London where his play „Cinders” was prepared to be staged. The steel curtain became impenetrable right on the premiere day. Glowacki returned home to Poland not from England but from America only after many years, already a well-known playwright. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Andrzej Stasiuk<\/strong> is a prose writer, poet, and essayist. He was expelled from schools, he defected from the army and spent a year and a half in jail for that. In 1987 he left the capital and moved to Low Beskids. With little tolerance for literary salons and officialdom, he moved from Warsaw to a house in the province, from which he would mail his texts to the most prestigious newspapers and magazines in Poland. In 1996 he founded „Czarne” publishing house together with his wife Monika Sznajderman in the village of Wo\u0142owiec.
