Collecting Cultures: Central and Eastern Europe
Join Katarzyna Sagatowska, Łukasz Gorczyca, and Tomas Opitz for an
unmissable dive into the vibrant world of collecting Eastern European
photography, spanning historic masterpieces and cutting-edge contemporary
works.
Katarzyna Sagatowska Polish curator, lecturer, author and producer of
artistic events and films, as well as promoter of collecting photography.
Founder and owner of JEDNOSTKA – gallery and publishing house. Lecturer
at the Film School in Lodz, Poland. She graduated from the Institute of
Creative Photography, Silesian University in Opava, Czech Republic (PhD)
and management and marketing, Warsaw Technical University, Poland (MS). She
was in charge of the Collector’s Photography (FOTOGRAFIA KOLEKCJONERSKA)
project – working as a curator and organizer of exhibitions and auctions
of Polish photography masters (2010–2017). Co-author of the We Are All
Photographers (WSZYSCY JESTEŚMY FOTOGRAFAMI) series. Co-curator of Paweł
Pierściński’s archive.
Łukasz Gorczyca is an art historian and critic, lecturer and exhibition
curator, gallery owner, and photography collector. He is the co-founder of
Raster Gallery (2001) and Fotoklub (2021) — a private micro-institution
dedicated to historical and contemporary photography.
Tomas Opitz graduated in Architecture in Caracas from the Universidad
Central de Venezuela, at the same time his passion for photography has been
getting stronger and stronger. Bea Puskás originally graduated in Geology,
but her affinity and interest in Art motivated her to get even closer after
finishing a postgraduate degree in Cultural Management at the Moholy-Nagy
University of Art and Design MOME in Budapest – Hungary. These
antecedents have led them to launch a small gallery TOBE in October 2013
with the aim of presenting Ibero-American and Hungarian artists in whom the
ambition for high-quality artistic expression is part of the idea of
​​experimentation in their works.
