A composer who deserves to be heard more often, Bacewicz brings a distinctive voice to 20th-century string repertoire. Richard Strauss\u2019 Metamorphosen, composed amid the ruins of WWII, is steeped in grief and loss. Richard Strauss\u2019 Metamorphosen, composed amid the ruins of WWII, is steeped in grief and loss. His reimagining of Georges Bizet\u2019s opera \u2013 written for his ballerina wife \u2013 transforms its melodies into a thrilling ballet suite for strings and percussion.\nBook Tickets HERE\n11th August - NFM Leopoldinum: Benedetti &amp; Sitkovetsky\u2019s Tribute to Menuhin\nViolin luminaries Nicola Benedetti and Alexander Sitkovetsky join NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra in a poignant tribute to their mentor.\nYehudi Menuhin, one of the foremost violinists of the 20th century, is honoured in this tribute by two of his former pupils: Festival Director Nicola Benedetti and fellow violin virtuoso Alexander Sitkovetsky.\nBenedetti takes centre stage for Edward Elgar\u2019s much-loved Serenade for Strings and B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k\u2019s exhilarating, folk-infused Divertimento, while Sitkovetsky steps into the spotlight for Andrzej Panufnik\u2019s haunting Violin Concerto, written in 1971 to showcase Menuhin\u2019s profound \u2018spiritual and poetic\u2019 musicianship.
