15th November & 22nd November, Polish Social and Cultural Association and Katy\u0144 Memorial, Gunnersbury Cemetery, Acton Town W3 8LE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This November, as Poland marks its Month of National Remembrance, Talking and Exploring, in collaboration with The Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK) and The Polonia Aid Foundation Trust (PAFT), invites Londoners to take part in Remembering Katy\u0144 \u2013 a two-day commemoration honouring the victims of the 1940 Katy\u0144 massacre, whose memory remains a powerful reminder of the price of truth and freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held in the year marking the 85th anniversary of the crime, this project complements the main annual Katy\u0144 commemorations held each April, offering space for reflection, dialogue, and connection within the Polish and international communities in London.<\/p>\n\n\n

Day 1 \u2013 POSK, 15 November<\/strong>
An evening of reflection featuring a lecture and discussion on the legacy of Katy\u0144, followed by
a screening of the feature film The Last Witness and a conversation with its director, Piotr
Szkopiak. The programme explores the intergenerational echoes of historical trauma and the
shaping of Polish identity in Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Day 2 \u2013 Gunnersbury Cemetery, 22 November<\/strong>
A gathering at the Katy\u0144 Memorial will pay tribute to the victims, followed by a guided walk
around Gunnersbury Cemetery and a visit to Gunnersbury Park Museum. This part of the
event introduces participants to the story of Poles in the UK and their enduring contribution to
British life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Remembering Katy\u0144 project aims to:<\/strong>
\uf0b7 Raise historical awareness of the Katy\u0144 atrocity;
\uf0b7 Strengthen community bonds through shared remembrance;
\uf0b7 Promote Polish culture and heritage;
\uf0b7 Encourage reflection on how historical truth can be distorted or silenced for political
