Since joining the practice in 1988, he has been instrumental in developing the studio from 20 people to a 500-person global architecture and design brand. He was responsible for evolving Zaha Hadid\u2019s angular designs into fluid geometries by implementing his design theories and exploring algorithms and computational processes to create complex forms. He introduced his Parametricism manifesto at the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2008 and won the RIBA Stirling Prize for excellence two years later. Notable projects co-authored with Zaha Hadid include the MAXXI Museum Rome, Dongdaedmun Design Plaza in Seoul, the London 2012 Olympic Aquatics Centre, and One Thousand Museum in Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Prior to receiving his PhD from the Institute of Cultural Science, Klagenfurt University, he studied math, philosophy, and architecture. In 1996, he founded the Design Research Laboratory (DRL) at the Architectural Association in London, and continues to teach. Schumacher has written over 120 articles in architecture journals and published a series of manifestos promoting Parametricism.
