During their photographic sessions with artist,\u00a0<strong>Anna Jochymek<\/strong>, the women shared details of their journey, challenges, and what has empowered them as women and migrants in the UK. The resulting photographs and testimonies create a powerful portrait of the local community, exploring what freedom means to women today, through their own words, histories, and identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Visit the exhibition webpage here: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.watermans.org.uk\/events\/free-her-at-turnham-green-anna-jochymek\/\">Free.Her at Turnham Green &#8211; Anna Jochymek &#8211; New Media Arts at Watermans<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><em>Free.Her<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;was originally presented at two outdoor exhibitions last year, in Brentford and Hounslow, as part of the Future Arts Centres project,&nbsp;<em>Our Freedom: Then and Now<\/em>, itself part of a \u00a32 million national creative programme marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and supported by the UK Government through Arts Council England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Jan Lennox, Director, Watermans said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201c<em>We\u2019re delighted that this important photographic exhibition by London-based Polish artist, Anna Jochymek can be seen again at Turnham Green. The portraits and testimonies tell a compelling immigration story.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Following the original exhibition, selected portraits will be included in the Gunnersbury Park Museum Archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>About Anna Jochymek<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Anna Jochymek is a Polish-born, London-based artist, ethnographer, and researcher working at the intersection of visual arts, social anthropology, and public engagement. Anna Jochymek is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School of Social Sciences and Professions, Centre for Global Diversities and Inequalities at&nbsp;Metropolitan University London, working as an ethnographer in a pioneering interdisciplinary study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>About Turnham Green<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Turnham Green in west London is a public park adjacent to Chiswick High Road, London W4 5DT. It is the heart of the Turnham Green Conservation Area and a valued green lung, offering recreational value to local residents and office workers alike. Its triangle of parkland represents a high profile and well used civic face of the borough, where the residential and commercial meet on either side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>About FAC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><em>Future Arts Centres (FAC)<\/em>&nbsp;is a national network of over 170 arts centres across the UK. The portraits and testimonies tell a compelling immigration story.\u201d\nFollowing the original exhibition, selected portraits will be included in the Gunnersbury Park Museum Archive.\nAbout Anna Jochymek\nAnna Jochymek is a Polish-born, London-based artist, ethnographer, and researcher working at the intersection of visual arts, social anthropology, and public engagement. Anna Jochymek is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School of Social Sciences and Professions, Centre for Global Diversities and Inequalities at Metropolitan University London, working as an ethnographer in a pioneering interdisciplinary study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.\nAbout Turnham Green\nTurnham Green in west London is a public park adjacent to Chiswick High Road, London W4 5DT.
