Manuela Panizzo<\/strong> is a leading jazz-soul singer originally from Italy, who has performed with the likes of the late Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, George Duke and more. This powerhouse vocalist and songwriter boasting a 3-octave range is renowned for her eclectic vocal style which combines jazz, soul, and Latin influences. Manuela is a lead singer for the Amy Lives Project, the authentic band that toured and recorded with Amy Winehouse. Tonight, the artist will present her condensed version of 'Sonic Oasis with the Great Ladies of Jazz\u2019 journey honouring the legendary women who influenced Manuela\u2019s style: the deeply emotional phrasing of Billie Holiday, the operatic brilliance of Sarah Vaughan, the scat improvisation of Ella Fitzgerald, the sophisticated storytelling of Carmen McRae, the smooth tone and rhythms of Elis Regina, and the contemporary, avant-garde vocal virtuosity of Rachelle Ferrell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleveland Watkiss<\/strong> MBE is a British virtuoso vocalist, actor and composer, and one of the co-founders of the vastly influential Jazz Warriors big band. His amazing vocal experiences have seen him perform with many diverse artists from around the world. Recently, building on the formidable strength and range of his solo performances with VocalSuite, the artist has formed a quartet showcases another side of his extraordinary vocal talent. Cleveland\u2019s rare ability to improvise like any instrument makes him a true frontman, but he is also able to incorporate his sound melodically, harmonically and rhythmically with bass and drums in a way that both complements and extends the musical dimensions of the conventional jazz format. Tonight we will have a rare chance to admire this extraordinary vocal artist both with a trio created especially for this occasion and the mesmerizing perfection of his solo performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rosie Frater-Taylor<\/strong> is one of the most electrifying forces in contemporary crossover music: virtuoso guitarist, compelling vocalist and songwriter of striking emotional depth. Recently celebrated by Gilles Peterson (6music), Led Zepplin\u2019s Jimmy Page following her standout performance at the opening of London\u2019s flagship Gibson Garage and Seal, who called her \u201cthe most exciting and original artist since Amy Winehouse\u201d. Having just signed with iconic German record label ACT, Rosie will be performing intimate versions of songs from her acclaimed albums \u2018Bloom & Featherweight\u2019 (over 5 million streams) and previewing new unreleased material. Blending jazz guitar roots with rock, alt-pop, neo-soul, folk and new-school jazz, Rosie crafts a sound entirely her own. Born and raised in Poland, vocalist, violinist and pianist Basia Bartz<\/strong> has established herself as a prolific player on the London music scene. She\u2019s been a member of a myriad of bands and projects across genres, spanning jazz, folk, Americana and experimental\u2026 Basia began singing and composing original songs in 2019. For her piano-led compositions Basia put together a jazz trio and currently they are in the process of recording their debut album. In this intimate set of original compositions and jazz standards Basia will combine sounds from musical worlds she\u2019s visited and weave them into an intricate and evocative musical tapestry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie Pyne<\/strong> is a singer and double bassist who is in great demand on the London jazz scene. As well as writing and recording her own original music, Charlie has always championed the Great American Songbook and grew up listening to and playing music from the swing era, which comes across in her joyful approach to this fantastic music.  <\/strong>Tonight, Charlie and her band will celebrate one of the most iconic jazz singers, the woman who defined the sound of the swing era: Peggy Lee. Expect to hear Peggy\u2019s biggest hits such as \u2018Fever\u2019, \u2018He\u2019s a Tramp\u2019 and \u2018Why Don\u2019t You Do Right\u2019 and some lesser-known compositions recorded during her seven-decade career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a career spanning three decades, Ian Shaw<\/strong> is widely regarded as the best male jazz vocalist the UK has produced, with 19 albums to his name, performing in the UK and worldwide both solo and in collaboration with an array of first-class musicians and ensembles. Shaw’s recordings and live performances as a jazz singer have been recognised by two BBC jazz awards (2004 and 2007), a Parliamentary award (2018) and numerous award nominations including Downbeat Magazine (2017) and Jazz FM (2013 and 2019). Tonight Ian Shaw will perform his hugely popular solo show, taking in Joni Mitchell, classic American standards, a smattering of contemporary songwriters (Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Stevie Wonder), laced with some of his pithy and often moving originals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The iconic jazz artist Norma Winstone<\/strong> will present a truly special set at the festival \u2013 it\u2019s called \u201cA Timeless Place\u201d\u2026 The Artist herself says,\u201cthere are places that are special to us for all kinds of personal reasons. Then there are places we have only heard about or can imagine. They often inspire music. I love both the reality and the imagined. My songs tonight will be about that sense of attachment, or… imagination\u201d. Get ready for a rare treat indeed! Norma Winstone is widely considered one of the best jazz artists in the world. She has been at the forefront of vocal jazz for many years and recorded several albums for ECM with her European trio (one of which was nominated for a Grammy). She was awarded an MBE in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
