After discovering his grandparents’ old love letters, Ben makes a last attempt to secure his
future with Alma. Separated by Brexit, borders and their own uncertainty, they come together
for what might be the last time, to discover the love letters of Ben\u2019s grandparents. 1945
doesn\u2019t seem so far removed\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Utilising the real letter of Mary & Mietek, this two-hander romantic journey, with beautiful live
scoring and subtle but powerful movement, guides us between life during WW2 and the
present day. A hopeful romance drawing parallels for both Ben and Alma and the world at
large, asking how separation by distance and culture can either divide, or bring us together.
Katla Theatre is an award-winning, emerging company focusing on cross-cultural stories,
with roots in devising and physical theatre. Founded by Danish Artistic Director Maria
Laumark, working with Charlie Solboda- Bolton, Associate Artist and grandson of Mary &
Mietek; it was first scratched in 2019, going on to a work-in-progress run in 2021, that won a
London Pub Theatre\u2019s Standing Ovation Award. Feedback from that production is below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
