A photography exhibition by Wiktor Strumi\u0142\u0142o who shares his images of the wonders and many faces of Poland’s longest river, the Vistula, from two years spent living beside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Columbus, in his roughly 20-metre-long small ships, was searching for America, 40-metre-long barges rode the current of the Vistula river in Poland with the agility of surfboards and at speeds often exceeding those of engine-powered wooden boats of today.<\/p>\n\n\n

Urzecze i Wis\u0142a_16<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

The Vistula and its tributaries are the lifeblood of Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The golden age would probably not have dawned on Poland if it had not been for the Vistula<\/strong>, the only thoroughfare of the time, by which timber, grain, and other goods were floated on the river. The boats went to Gdansk and then around the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since prehistory, it was along river banks that the first inhabitants settled, the first settlements were established, and the most important cities were built and developed. The photographs in this exhibition are the result of two years of work by Wiktor Strumi\u0142\u0142o and two years living in Urzecze.<\/p>\n\n\n

Wiktor Strumi\u0142\u0142o<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A photographer by passion, author of the photographic exhibition Urzecze and the Vistula presented at the Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw (4 September 2020 \u2013 29 November 2020). Inland and sea sailor. Co-builder of a replica of a 16th-century boat, Oskar Kolberg. A river enthusiast, in particular, an aficionado of the Vistula and Pilica rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his daily life \u2013 for sixteen years \u2013 a cinematographer, light designer, and licensed drone operator at Warner Bros. Discovery. His credits include the drone shots for Ewa Ewart\u2019s film \u201cDo ostatniej kropli\u201d [To the Last Drop] in 2023. This film won the \u201cGolden Nymph\u201d award – the Prince Rainier Award for the best documentary film at the 62nd Television Festival in Monte Carlo and 1st prize in the category \u201cOceans and their protection\u201d at the Deauville Green Awards Festival in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was also the cinematographer for \u201cZaginione Urzecze\u201d [The lost Urzecze] (2020 ), \u201cPie\u015b\u0144 Buntu\u201d [Song of Rebellion] by the R.U.T.A. Band. (2012), \u201cOdkrywanie kart historii warszawskiej Pragi\u201d [Discovering the Cards of History of Warsaw\u2019s Praga District] (2014). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This film won the \u201cGolden Nymph\u201d award - the Prince Rainier Award for the best documentary film at the 62nd Television Festival in Monte Carlo and 1st prize in the category \u201cOceans and their protection\u201d at the Deauville Green Awards Festival in France.\nHe was also the cinematographer for \u201cZaginione Urzecze\u201d [The lost Urzecze] (2020 ), \u201cPie\u015b\u0144 Buntu\u201d [Song of Rebellion] by the R.U.T.A.
