Together they will interpret the beautifully melancholic compositions of trumpeter Tomasz Sta\u0144ko, from his early recordings such as Balladyna, through to the classic albums Dark Eyes, From the Green Hill and Litania, including Komeda\u2019s iconic ballad Sleep Safe and Warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Line up:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Chris Batchelor &#8211; trumpet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mark Lockheart &#8211; tenor sax<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Liam Noble &#8211; piano<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Dave Whitford &#8211; double bass<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Will Glaser \u2013 drums<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Tomasz Sta\u0144ko first brought his eloquent lyricism to European jazz in the 1960s, gaining international renown. His career entered a majestic second act in the 1990s, with ten standout albums following over the next two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">When he first heard live jazz, Sta\u0144ko concluded that \u2018the message was freedom\u2019. Over the years, his creative curiosity led him from seminal free jazz exploration in Europe to New York-based collaborations with cutting-edge American players, including Cecil Taylor, Don Cherry, and the Globe Unity Orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">His meditative, brooding sound was instantly recognisable. \u2018Nobody,\u2019 wrote The Guardian, \u2018holds a single, long-blown trumpet note like\u2026 Sta\u0144ko\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><u><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ecmrecords.com\/artists\/tomasz-stanko\/\">www.ecmrecords.com\/artists\/tomasz-stanko\/<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Chris Batchelor<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 trumpet: a leading light of the hugely popular and influential big band Loose Tubes, Chris has gone on to play with international stars such as Michael Brecker, Hermeto Pascoal, Sam Rivers and Uri Caine. He is a noted composer and bandleader, with Big Air, the popular avant-trad band Pigfoot and chamber jazz group Zoetic amongst his projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chris-batchelor.com\/\">www.chris-batchelor.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Mark Lockheart<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; saxophone: also a founder member of Loose Tubes, Mark has been at the forefront of British contemporary jazz for many years, performing with Norma Winstone, Polar Bear and as a soloist in Mark Anthony Turnage\u2019s opera Anna Nicole. Lockheart is also an award-winning composer, currently leading the quartet Dreamers and has recently released his album Smiling for extended 13-piece ensemble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.marklockheart.co.uk\/\">www.marklockheart.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Liam Noble<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 piano: has played with Anita Wardell, Harry Beckett, Tim Whitehead and John Stevens as well as recording and touring with cult minimalist composer Moondog. His career entered a majestic second act in the 1990s, with ten standout albums following over the next two decades.\nWhen he first heard live jazz, Sta\u0144ko concluded that \u2018the message was freedom\u2019. Over the years, his creative curiosity led him from seminal free jazz exploration in Europe to New York-based collaborations with cutting-edge American players, including Cecil Taylor, Don Cherry, and the Globe Unity Orchestra.\nHis meditative, brooding sound was instantly recognisable. \u2018Nobody,\u2019 wrote The Guardian, \u2018holds a single, long-blown trumpet note like\u2026 Sta\u0144ko\u2019.\nwww.ecmrecords.com\/artists\/tomasz-stanko\/\nChris Batchelor \u2013 trumpet: a leading light of the hugely popular and influential big band Loose Tubes, Chris has gone on to play with international stars such as Michael Brecker, Hermeto Pascoal, Sam Rivers and Uri Caine.
