Talking and Exploring together with the Polish Social and Cultural Centre (POSK) have the pleasure to invite you to\u00a0two evenings remembering the Polish Solidarity movement and introducing an outline of the history of Poland and the history of ancient Kashmir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The events are addressed to all speakers of English to create an opportunity for non-Polish speakers to learn about Poland at the purpose-built social and cultural centre built by Poles for Poles as well as for others to come together.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first event, on\u00a0December 13th<\/strong>, will start with\u00a0Wiktor Moszczynski<\/strong>\u2019s presentation on the British Polish Solidarity Campaign. Ewa Cwirko Godycka will contribute by sharing her childhood memories of growing up with parents who were active members of the opposition. A short Q&A will follow before the break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second part, after the break, Wiktor, a well-known writer and activist, will give a short outline of Polish history, to better familiarise the audience with the country of his parents and homeland of over 600 00 thousand Polish people making the population mosaic of Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

December 13th,\u00a01981 is the date when the regime imposed martial law on the country and we are pleased that 43 years on, we can recall those terrifying times as an obstacle that was overcome by the Solidarity struggle leading to the first free elections in post World War II Poland, and eventually, to\u00a0the end of Cold War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A week later, on Friday,\u00a0Dec 20th<\/strong>, we will meet\u00a0Sushil Pandit<\/strong>,\u00a0a student activist in Delhi in 1989, when martial law was imposed in Poland. He will tell us about the reaction in Delhi to this abuse of democracy in faraway Poland: a demonstration that he helped to organise and took part in, and about the petition carried to the Polish Embassy through the streets of Delhi. A short Q&A will be held afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n

About Talking and Exploring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joanna Dudzi\u0144ska started Talking and Exploring in 2017 in order to bring people together to learn about and from one another and to explore lesser-known areas of London, especially West London where she is based.\u00a0Owing to support from various organisations, she has organised many walks and talks, each of them unique, as they are very much about creating an experience on the day.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has offered numerous walks with a Polish heritage theme owing to the Polish Heritage Days funding from the Polish Embassy in London. Being Polish, and an English teacher, she\u00a0includes a Polish theme in her events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
