This tragic period of his life inspired him to write the <strong>memoir<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u201cNo Return: Journeys in the Holocaust\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">After the war, Marber moved to Italy and later, in 1946, settled in Great Britain, where he studied graphic design at<strong> Saint Martin\u2019s School of Art<\/strong> and later on at the <strong>Royal College of Art<\/strong> in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Marber made a significant mark on the British design scene, designing over 200 Penguin Crime fiction covers. As graphic design writer Rick Poynor noted:\u00a0<em>\u201cSeen as a series, these emerge as one of the outstanding achievements of British book cover design\u201d<\/em>. He also became the first Art Director of\u00a0\u201cThe Observer Magazine\u201d and designed the iconic Nicholson Guides to London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">His distinctive covers were featured in leading British publications like\u00a0<strong>\u201cThe Economist\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>\u201cNew Society\u201d<\/strong>. His work was also showcased by <strong>Columbia Pictures, the BBC, and Secret Films<\/strong>, among many others. Artis-curator Kaavous Clayton described Marber&#8217;s work as\u00a0<em>&#8222;in one way humble and modest, [which] at the same time [has] a gentle insistence that you cannot ignore\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Beyond his professional achievements, Marber was dedicated to <strong>supporting young creative talent<\/strong>.
