{"id":9634,"date":"2024-12-27T16:41:16","date_gmt":"2024-12-27T15:41:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/instytutpolski.pl\/london\/?p=9634"},"modified":"2025-02-10T13:53:33","modified_gmt":"2025-02-10T12:53:33","slug":"polish-scottish-mini-festival-jan-march-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/instytutpolski.pl\/london\/2024\/12\/27\/polish-scottish-mini-festival-jan-march-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Polish-Scottish Mini Festival Jan-March 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>13th January \u2013 2nd March, Various events &amp; locations, Aberdeen<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Polish-Scottish Mini Festival, organised by the Polish Association Aberdeen and supported by Polish Cultural Institute in London, once again shows that a vibrant community can be built by embracing and combining diverse cultural environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Open to everyone from all over Scotland and beyond, the Polish-Scottish Mini Festival is each year drawing an increasingly larger audience for a unique series of cultural events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">As the organizers say \u201cIt&#8217;s a great opportunity to build bridges between different communities and to celebrate our diversity\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The highlights of the 2025 festival include: the exhibition &#8222;City of Living, City of Dead&#8221; at Aberdeen Central Library, &#8222;Polish-Scottish Ceilidh&#8221;, concerts of &#8222;Strachy Na Lachy&#8221; \u2013 our headliner, a folk concert of &#8222;Kapela PoPieronie&#8221;, a sea shanty concert &#8222;W\u0142asny Port and Harbour Voices&#8221;, a singing workshop from the Beskid Mountains led by Brygida Sordyl and a novelty \u2013 &#8222;Weekend of Polish Cinema with IFF Tofifest&#8221;, the weekend of Polish cinema in Aberdeen with a special guest, the film director Agnieszka Smoczy\u0144ska.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Take a look at this year&#8217;s lineup and make sure to mark your calendars!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-15a2b19bfa738e899a1c21e858452272\"><strong>13 January to 15 February 2025 \u2013 \u201cCity of Living, City of Dead\u201d exhibition @ Aberdeen Central Library &amp; Exhibition Talk 27 January 2025 at 6 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">By combining archival photographs of people and places from the Warsaw Ghetto (from the collection of the Warsaw Ghetto Museum) with images of modern-day Warsaw through double exposure photography, Robert Wilczy\u0144ski brings to life and makes visible a dramatic period in the city&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Join us for the\u00a0<strong>Exhibition Talk<\/strong>\u00a0on 27 January 2025 at 18:00 with Chava Nissimov, a social activist, writer, and Holocaust survivor. Known for her poetry and prose that reflect her personal experiences during and after the war, Nissimov is a renowned and award-winning writer. Traditional Scottish <strong>dishes<\/strong>, such as haggis, neeps, and tatties, will be served alongside classic Polish dishes.
