Weekend with Culture from Ukraine and Poland<\/em> took place from 25th to 26th of March 2023 and was organised by Polish Institute New Delhi, Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India and ALMA Bakery & Caf\u00e9.
This project comprised of an exhibition of Maria Prymachenko paintings, art workshop PAINT me FOLK <\/em>and traditional dishes from the Ukraine and Poland as special plate menu.
The exhibition consisted of digital prints of paintings by Maria Prymachenko (1908-1997), a Ukrainian folk painter, and representative of naive art, who also worked on drawings, embroidery, and painting on ceramics. Selected works, painted in the years 1963 – 1988, present an incredibly colourful world full of fantasy, filled with strange creatures (e.g. black beast), animals (bull), floral motifs (peacock among hops), as well as scenes from fairy tales. The exhibition presented reproductions of Maria Prymachenko’s paintings from the collection of National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAINT me FOLK<\/em> workshop conducted by Olga Syrovatko on 25th and 26th March introduced participants to the technique of Petrykivka and traditional folk painting styles from Poland.
Olga Syrovatko is a Ukrainian artist based in Gurugram, India. She has graduated as an art teacher and worked as a professional artist-painter in Ukraine. Olga’s expertise is with traditional styles Petrykivka, naive art of Maria Prymachenko, portraits and watercolours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditional dishes from the Ukraine and Poland were presented as a curated menu by Julia Danylenko and Bogusia Dhingra.
Julia is Ukrainian, living and exploring India for almost a decade. Pastry Chef and Baker with 12 years experience. Passionate about desserts and breads, which are available from Julia’s kitchen in Gurugram and Delhi.
Bogusia is Polish, brought to India following her heart and soul and stayed for more than a decade. Passionate promoter of Polish and East European cuisine and culture. Together with her husband, Gaurav they run Alma Bakery & Cafe in Noida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
