They use various tricks enforced by ruthless cotton magnates. After the fire consumes their brand new factory, their paths diverge. Karol compromises noble ideals and breaks off the engagement with Anka to marry Mada Mueller, a daughter of the biggest manufacturer M\u00fcller, which enables him to come into possession of the greatest capital in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. \u2018The Promised Land\u2019 is a film adaptation of the novel by W\u0142adys\u0142aw Reymont, being an epic image of the conflicts of the 19th-century capitalist \u0141\u00f3d\u017a.
