Justyna Górowska is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice merges
performance, digital technology, and ecological activism. Working across
art, science, and feminist theory, she explores how human and
more-than-human bodies are entangled within the planetary water cycle.
Through her performative persona WetMeWild—a hydrosexual Slavic water
nymph—she creates immersive and interactive environments that combine
naturo-cultural objects, digital performance, and AR applications such as
Nymph Tears. In its latest iteration, audiences encounter her AI-driven
avatar within an underwater virtual environment—a fluid ecosystem where
myth dissolves into data, and the boundaries between intimacy, ecology,
ritual, and code become porous. Her Popiel Studio, founded as an outcome of
her PhD at the University of the Arts in Poznań (2020), revives forgotten
Slavic traditions through contemporary design. Using 3D scans of
archaeological artifacts, Popiel reimagines ancestral vessels and ornaments
as 3D-printed sculptures and jewellery. Since 2021, she has co-led
cyber_nymphs, a duo that initiated the hydrosexual movement in art, a
practice of fluid intimacy with ecosystems and technological systems.
Together they curate the Blue Humanities Archive, a living collection of
digital works related to water, which she has transferred into DNA as part
of her ongoing research into sustainable data storage and posthuman memory.
Her work has been presented internationally at Art in General (New York),
FUTURA (Prague), the Museum of Modern Art (Warsaw), the National Gallery of
Indonesia (Jakarta), Le Lieu Gallery (Quebec City), and Bunkier Sztuki
(Kraków), among others. She is represented by lokal_30 gallery in Warsaw
and teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and SWPS University. By
weaving together speculative mythology, environmental ethics, and new
media, she constructs spaces that question extractivist paradigms and
propose an ecology of care.
WetMeWild is the first comprehensive monograph devoted to Justyna
Górowska’s artistic practice between 2017 and 2025. The publication
surveys her performances, installations, and interdisciplinary research
developed through the performative persona WetMeWild, exploring
environmental crisis through hydrofeminism, ecosexuality, Slavic mythology,
and ecological humanities. Essays, interviews, and visual documentation
trace the evolution of her work across Poland and internationally,
examining water as a political, ecological, and cultural commons. The
publication also reflects her collaborations within the cyber_nymphs
collective and the Blue Humanities Archive, positioning artistic practice
as a space for imagining new relationships between humans, technology, and
more-than-human worlds.
ISCP Resident July 1–August 31, 2026 Grzegorz Stefański is a
London-based Polish interdisciplinary artist-filmmaker an writer working
across multi- and single-screen cinematic installations and photography.
His practice explores relational dynamics of love and power, mental health,
memory, repetition, and the social construction of post-patriarchal
masculinity. Influenced by phenomenology, performance, and European and
Asian cinema, his work sits at the intersection of choreography,
psychology, and film, with a focus on gesture, embodiment, and identity.
Grzegorz Stefański has exhibited work at Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw,
Poland; Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo, Japan; and Ujazdowski Castle Centre for
Contemporary Art, Poland, among others.
Grzegorz Stefański’s residency at ISCP is supported by the International
Visegrad Fund. About ISCP
The International Studio & Curatorial Program was founded in 1994 by
Dennis Elliott. Known first as the International Studio Program, the
organization was formed in order to establish an international community of
artists in New York City, and to help develop their professional careers.
Working in partnership with The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, ISP was
located in lower Manhattan and moved to midtown Manhattan in 1998. The
following year, the program was expanded to include curatorial residencies
as well, so the institution was renamed the International Studio &
Curatorial Program. In 2006, ISCP became a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
ISCP relocated from midtown Manhattan to an 18,000 square-foot factory
building in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 2008, where it thrives in close
proximity to the burgeoning art community of Bushwick. This move expanded
ISCP’s facility and activities to include 35 private studios, exhibition
and projects spaces.
