<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGarden of Collective Futures\u201d<\/strong> is a public art project initiated by ten members of the EUNIC Cluster New York<\/a> featuring artists from ten European countries and the U.S. EUNIC \u2013 European Union National Institutes for Culture<\/a> \u2013 is the European network of organizations engaging in cultural relations in more than 100 countries worldwide with a network of 140 clusters. EUNIC Cluster New York is one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first step, the artists created a collaborative mural design through a series of workshops under the creative lead of New York-based, Ukrainian-born painter, muralist, street artist and illustrator <\/a>Misha Tyutyunik<\/a>. In a second step, they painted it together on the wall outside of The Standard, East Village<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EUNIC Cluster New York was thrilled to partner with The Standard, East Village<\/strong> on this project. The mural\u2019s location is on the Garden Wall outside of the hotel, along East 5th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue), New York, NY 10003. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel is located off Cooper Square in one of New York\u2019s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, East Village. The hotel is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure \u2013 very much in the spirit of its surroundings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

MURAL THEME<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mural design was created by the ten artists collaboratively in a series of workshops. First, the artists delved into the essence of the project, associating symbols with the title words „garden”, „collective”, and „future”. Each sketched their chosen symbols in their own respective style, embellishing them with personal associations from their heritage countries that helped shape their identity. These symbols formed the foundation for the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, the artists dissected the meanings behind their chosen symbols through dialogue and individual reflection. Under Misha Tyutyunik’s creative guidance, a cohesive framework emerged, balancing unity and individuality. Discussion flowed around ensuring coherence among sections, with mock-ups and cut-outs aiding the visualization of the final composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The garden at The Standard, East village serves as a potent metaphor for collective aspirations and cultural diversity. As each artist’s contribution enriches the tapestry of the mural, it becomes a testament to both individual expression and shared visions for a prosperous and peaceful future for all.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Polish artist:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asia Sztencel<\/a><\/strong> (b. \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, Poland), is a Brooklyn based conceptual artist who pursues socially engaged practice based on research about experience of immigrants in local communities in relationship to landscape and memory of a place. Activating painting, traditional craft, and multidisciplinary forms, Sztencel\u2019s practice offers a personal exploration within the larger narrative of cultural displacement and immigration experience. Using landscape as the base narrative form, Sztencel dissects the feelings of exile, recall, and longing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

EUNIC Cluster New York is one of them.\nIn the first step, the artists created a collaborative mural design through a series of workshops under the creative lead of New York-based, Ukrainian-born painter, muralist, street artist and illustrator Misha Tyutyunik. In a second step, they painted it together on the wall outside of The Standard, East Village.\nThe artists taking part in the project:\n\u00b7 Rob Anderson (Hungary)\u00b7 Riivo Kruuk (Estonia)\u00b7 David Leitner (Austria)\u00b7 Julius Ludavicius (Lithuania)\u00b7 Radu Pandele (Romania)\u00b7 Jan Deejoohcee Rosius (Flanders)\u00b7 Rosa Sarholz (Germany)\u00b7 Asia Sztencel (Poland)\u00b7 Verka Vybiralova (Czech Republic)\u00b7 Misha Tyutyunik (Ukraine\/US)\nLOCATION\nEUNIC Cluster New York was thrilled to partner with The Standard, East Village on this project. The mural\u2019s location is on the Garden Wall outside of the hotel, along East 5th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue), New York, NY 10003. \nThe hotel is located off Cooper Square in one of New York\u2019s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, East Village. The hotel is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure \u2013 very much in the spirit of its surroundings.\nMURAL THEME\nThe mural design was created by the ten artists collaboratively in a series of workshops. First, the artists delved into the essence of the project, associating symbols with the title words \"garden\", \"collective\", and \"future\". Each sketched their chosen symbols in their own respective style, embellishing them with personal associations from their heritage countries that helped shape their identity. These symbols formed the foundation for the design.\nNext, the artists dissected the meanings behind their chosen symbols through dialogue and individual reflection. Under Misha Tyutyunik's creative guidance, a cohesive framework emerged, balancing unity and individuality. Discussion flowed around ensuring coherence among sections, with mock-ups and cut-outs aiding the visualization of the final composition.\nThe garden at The Standard, East village serves as a potent metaphor for collective aspirations and cultural diversity. As each artist's contribution enriches the tapestry of the mural, it becomes a testament to both individual expression and shared visions for a prosperous and peaceful future for all.\n\u00a9 Misha Tyutyunik\nAbout the Polish artist:\nAsia Sztencel (b. \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, Poland), is a Brooklyn based conceptual artist who pursues socially engaged practice based on research about experience of immigrants in local communities in relationship to landscape and memory of a place. Activating painting, traditional craft, and multidisciplinary forms, Sztencel\u2019s practice offers a personal exploration within the larger narrative of cultural displacement and immigration experience.
