Exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe exhibition \u201eWho Are You? The Importance of Roots\u201d is based on a display created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland\u2019s independence, which has been shown in several renowned Polish cultural institutions, including the International Cultural Centre in Krakow, the Pan Tadeusz Museum in Wroc\u0142aw, and the Palace of Culture Gallery in D\u0105browa G\u00f3rnicza. Now, in its new bilingual version, it is presented to the Polish-American community in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This intergenerational, dialogue-based exhibition project poses questions about what Poland is, what homeland, independence, patriotism, life in a free country, national identity, and heritage mean. The exhibition discusses national symbols, the Polish language, history and culture, as well as regional traditions and outstanding inspiring Poles such as Nicolaus Copernicus and Maria Sk\u0142odowska-Curie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the significance of the topics, the exhibition\u2019s narrative remains light and engaging, opening up opportunities to transmit and nurture native traditions in the context of life outside the homeland. The themes are presented through works by prominent Polish illustrators and are accompanied by a printed guide with activities for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
