They combine dark, introspective melodies with rich, experimental sounds to create their own space in the world of alternative guitar music. Their music has received international recognition, with the Los Angeles Times calling them „one of the best rock bands doing business now” and The Guardian highlighting their mix of „off-kilter melodies, dense instrumentation, and lyrical explorations of the darkest side of the human condition.” The band has released music through Sub Pop and Glitterbeat Records and has toured extensively, playing at major festivals like Primavera Sound, Rockaway Beach, SXSW, and Iceland Airwaves. They’ve also performed in an NPR Tiny Desk home session and appeared twice on Marc Riley’s show on BBC Radio 6 Music. Their music has also been played by radio hosts like Steve Lamacq, Mary Anne Hobbs, Henry Rollins, and Iggy Pop. Additionally, Trupa Trupa contributed music to the soundtrack of „Green Border,” a film directed by the Oscar-nominated Agnieszka Holland, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Recently, they collaborated with Nick Launay, a producer known for his work with Nick Cave, Idles, and Amyl and the Sniffers. On November 27th, Glitterbeat Records will release „Sister Ray”, the first single from their upcoming EP „Mourners”, which will be out on February 21, 2025. The release will be preceded by a second single titled „Mourners”, set to come out on February 4.

EP DESCRIPTION

Trupa Trupa, after releasing their 2022 album „B FLAT A”, which was met with critical acclaim and positive reception from listeners, returns as a new band with a new release crafted by a new producer. The „Mourners” EP features five songs produced by one of the world’s top music producers, Nick Launay, known for his work with artists such as Nick Cave, Idles, and Amyl and The Sniffers. These five new fast-paced, dynamic tracks highlight the crucial role of the rhythm section, with a powerful, loud bass line and accompanying drums driving this psychedelic train – psychedelic, yet full of rage, screams, and unexpected stylistic twists. A significant point of reference and inspiration is Holger Czukay, a native of Gdańsk from the band Can, whose repetitive compositions are so important to the tradition of psychedelic and post-punk music. Lyrically, the EP features fragments, slogans, screams, and even pieces of poetry. The band’s two vocalists, Kwiatkowski and Juchniewicz, duel with words and sounds. Kwiatkowski weaves a poetic melodic and lyrical line, which is soon shattered into pieces by Juchniewicz’s screams and furious lyrics. For years, Trupa Trupa has been rooted in a strong rhythm section and the dynamic collision between a romantic, almost Beatles-like world and a post-punk reality filled with decay and screams. Trupa Trupa has never sounded stronger or more dynamic. On the „Mourners” EP, Nick Launay has brought out a new side of Trupa Trupa. This release is not just the quintessence of the best of what has come before, but under Nick Launay’s guidance, Trupa Trupa has ventured into a new power trio story. For the first time in the band’s history, the studio album recordings have the same intensity as their live performances. Nick Launay has given this new release his unique, original touch. Therefore, on the new EP, we can taste and smell the ’80s mixed with the present, the transition from 2024 to 2025. Trupa Trupa is a band of strange sounds commenting on an increasingly strange reality. This is a unique, bizarre sonic world open to all interpretations and readings, where each listener can create their own story, their own interpretation, and narrative, making the listener a creator in their own right.

The EP was produced by Nick Launay (recording and mixing) and mastered by the legendary Bernie Grundman. The EP will be introduced through two singles ahead of its full release on February 21, 2025. The tour will be an opportunity for the premiere of “Mourners”, giving fans in the United States a chance to hear Trupa Trupa’s new material and experience their live energy.
About Trupa Trupa
Trupa Trupa is a post-punk band from Gdańsk, Poland, known for their unique blend of brooding alternative rock and psychedelic influences. They combine dark, introspective melodies with rich, experimental sounds to create their own space in the world of alternative guitar music. Their music has received international recognition, with the Los Angeles Times calling them "one of the best rock bands doing business now" and The Guardian highlighting their mix of "off-kilter melodies, dense instrumentation, and lyrical explorations of the darkest side of the human condition." The band has released music through Sub Pop and Glitterbeat Records and has toured extensively, playing at major festivals like Primavera Sound, Rockaway Beach, SXSW, and Iceland Airwaves. They've also performed in an NPR Tiny Desk home session and appeared twice on Marc Riley's show on BBC Radio 6 Music. Their music has also been played by radio hosts like Steve Lamacq, Mary Anne Hobbs, Henry Rollins, and Iggy Pop. Additionally, Trupa Trupa contributed music to the soundtrack of "Green Border," a film directed by the Oscar-nominated Agnieszka Holland, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Recently, they collaborated with Nick Launay, a producer known for his work with Nick Cave, Idles, and Amyl and the Sniffers. On November 27th, Glitterbeat Records will release "Sister Ray", the first single from their upcoming EP "Mourners", which will be out on February 21, 2025. The release will be preceded by a second single titled "Mourners", set to come out on February 4.
EP DESCRIPTION
Trupa Trupa, after releasing their 2022 album "B FLAT A", which was met with critical acclaim and positive reception from listeners, returns as a new band with a new release crafted by a new producer. The "Mourners" EP features five songs produced by one of the world’s top music producers, Nick Launay, known for his work with artists such as Nick Cave, Idles, and Amyl and The Sniffers. These five new fast-paced, dynamic tracks highlight the crucial role of the rhythm section, with a powerful, loud bass line and accompanying drums driving this psychedelic train - psychedelic, yet full of rage, screams, and unexpected stylistic twists. A significant point of reference and inspiration is Holger Czukay, a native of Gdańsk from the band Can, whose repetitive compositions are so important to the tradition of psychedelic and post-punk music. Lyrically, the EP features fragments, slogans, screams, and even pieces of poetry. The band's two vocalists, Kwiatkowski and Juchniewicz, duel with words and sounds. Kwiatkowski weaves a poetic melodic and lyrical line, which is soon shattered into pieces by Juchniewicz's screams and furious lyrics. For years, Trupa Trupa has been rooted in a strong rhythm section and the dynamic collision between a romantic, almost Beatles-like world and a post-punk reality filled with decay and screams. Trupa Trupa has never sounded stronger or more dynamic. On the "Mourners" EP, Nick Launay has brought out a new side of Trupa Trupa. Therefore, on the new EP, we can taste and smell the '80s mixed with the present, the transition from 2024 to 2025.
The recording took place at Custom 34 studio in Gdańsk, Poland.
The tour is supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland, Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the city of Gdańsk.
Lead image: photo by Adam Plucinski"},{"@type":"ImageObject
pl-PL","@id":"https://instytutpolski.pl/newyork/2025/01/28/trupa-trupa-us-tour-2025/#primaryimage
{"@type":"BreadcrumbList","@id":"https://instytutpolski.pl/newyork/2025/01/28/trupa-trupa-us-tour-2025/#breadcrumb
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
Trupa Trupa US Tour 2025"}]},{"@type":"WebSite","@id":"https://instytutpolski.pl/newyork/#website
[{"@type":"SearchAction
@type":"EntryPoint
https://instytutpolski.pl/newyork/?s={search_term_string}
@type":"PropertyValueSpecification
{"@type":"Person","@id":"https://instytutpolski.pl/newyork/#/schema/person/c732b2695ee92026d080eec35471c7f1
stypulkowskaa
@type":"ImageObject
pl-PL","@id":"https://instytutpolski.pl/newyork/#/schema/person/image/
["GET
