This very special screening of Andrzej \u017bu\u0142awski\u2019s magnum opus, On the Silver Globe<\/em> (1988), will be presented in person by its cinematographer, acclaimed DOP and longtime \u017bu\u0142awski collaborator Andrzej Jaroszewicz.  It’s a rare opportunity to experience one of Polish cinema\u2019s most ambitious and visually striking works\u2014an epic science fiction masterpiece with a fascinating production history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally filmed in the late 1970s, On the Silver Globe<\/em> faced severe censorship under Poland\u2019s communist regime, which halted production just as the film was nearing completion. A decade later, \u017bu\u0142awski managed to assemble the surviving footage, recreate scenes with new actors, and incorporate documentary material, culminating in the film\u2019s 1988 release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adapted from the Lunar Trilogy<\/em> by \u017bu\u0142awski’s grand-uncle, Jerzy \u017bu\u0142awski, On the Silver Globe tells the surreal and haunting story of a group of astronauts sent to the moon to establish a new civilization. However, their mission unravels as they die one by one, leaving their children to create a new society steeped in myth and primitive beliefs.
