Scar.f in the Wind<\/strong><\/a> – a solo exhibit of most recent oil paintings by artist Agnieszka Zak-Bielowa<\/strong><\/a> curated by Sylwia Kolowiecka<\/strong>, held May 1 -7 at Emmanuel Fremin Gallery in Manhattan, and May 8-15 at the Hollows Art Space in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Scar.f in the Wind series, which stylistically combines pop art and figurative modernism, reflect on the intersections and parallels between patterns and ornaments quoted from the Eastern and Western visual folk cultures. The emerging evocative figures implemented with masterful realism, color, and detail, echo the lushness and vividness of folk textiles, fairs and fairways. Through the symbolism of the various vernacular patterns, Zak crafts a visual celebration–a metaphor for the richness and energy of a multicultural society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agnieszka Zak-Bielowa<\/strong> (b. 1982) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, Poland (2007) and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, Italy. The artist has garnered numerous accolades for her work including the Entry Foundation scholarship, the Jozef Szajna Award, and the 6th International Festival of Arts solo exhibition prize in Szczecin, Poland. In 2010 she was awarded a grant from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Zak-Bielowa Recent exhibitions include „Small is Great” at Jadite Gallery, New York, NY (2017); „Warschau ist feminin” touring through Berlin, Munich, Cologne, and Hamburg, Germany (2016-17).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
