The Jewish Museum, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Polish Cultural Institute are delighted to continue their partnership presenting Polish films that explore the diversity of Jewish experience at the 29th annual New York Jewish Film Festival<\/b>.This year\u2019s festival features an exciting lineup of documentary, narrative, and short films, including new work by fresh voices in international cinema as well as restored classics.<\/span>

Among Polish accents during the festival there will be two Polish productions and co-productions: NY Premier of Dolce Fine Giornata<\/i><\/b>, directed by Jacek Borcuch<\/b> and starring Krystyna Janda<\/b> and Katarzyna Smutniak<\/b>; and Polish-German-French co-production The Birch Tree Meadow<\/i><\/b>, directed by Marceline Loridan-Ivens<\/b> and starring Zbigniew Zamachowski <\/b>and Anouk Aim\u00e9e<\/b>.<\/span>

A freethinking Polish Jewish Nobel Prize\u2013winning poet (Krystyna Janda) living in the Tuscan countryside grows fond of a younger immigrant, which gradually begins to fracture her relationships with her husband and daughter. After a terrorist attack in Rome leads to anti-immigrant hysteria, she boldly speaks out against the European perspective, and her comments wreak unexpected havoc for her, for the immigrant, and for her family. Dolce Fine Giornata peers into the lives and attitudes of small-town Italy, from the perspective of an uncompromising and brilliant woman who consistently stands for what she values most.<\/span>

When she returns to Europe for a reunion of fellow survivors, she confronts her past and visits Auschwitz, the scene of her \u201cmurdered adolescence.\u201d There, she meets Diehl\u2019s Oskar, a young photographer coming to grips with his grandfather\u2019s role in the SS.
