Country that suffers from maternity complex
and swaddles other nations in the barbed wire of your love,
isn\u2019t there at least one among your sons
who would say, \u201cLeave them alone, mother!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Country, you monstrous giant, who feeds on defenseless books
as on newborn infants in the children\u2019s wards of libraries,
I would live a million years to walk to your end, 
leaning on a knife as on a friend\u2019s shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Free countries, like innocent babies, sleep in the soft beds of their borders,
their capitals half-open like mouths that breathe,
as your slant-eyes Christ leans toward them over the horizon
his lips dripping with the salty honey of syphilis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
