In Jeevodaya, India there is an educational and therapeutic centre for lepers and their families. Helena Pyz came here from Poland thirty years ago to help sick and hungry children. Over the years, she has begun to feel her weakness more and more acutely but the strength of her character does not allow her to surrender to her own illness. A long-lasting documentary observation helps to understand what was the unique role of the doctor. Surrounded by reckless people, doctor Helena seems to be the only person who can see the significance of the centre and its selfless nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About the Director Pawe\u0142 Wysocza\u0144ski<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nDirector, screenwriter and producer. He graduated in directing from Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski’s Film School in Poland. His film „Point of view\u201d, created during film school received multiple awards. His graduated film \u201eOn the road\u201d tells a story of a coal miner from Silesia who sets off on a journey to meet Dalai Lama. The film received multiple awards. Pawe\u0142’s next film „We will be happy one day” is about a boy from a poor district in Silesia, who makes a film with his cell phone about his friends’ dreams. The film was awarded in Los Angeles, Madrid, Reykjavik, Kiev, Warsaw, Jihlava, Miskloc, Laipzig. \u201eWe will be happy one day\u201d was bought by several TV stations \u2013 in South Korea, Germany and Spain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2015 Pawel Wysoczanski made „Jurek” – a portrait of Jerzy Kukuczka, a world famous Himalaya and Karakorum mountaineer. The film received 27 awards worldwide, including Bilbao, Ljublana, Kathmandu, Torello, Vancouver, Ujlu in South Korea, Copenhagen. Latest film \u201eLong Day Tomorrow\u201d – a long-lasting documentary about doctor Helena Pyz. She came thirty years ago to Jeevodaya (India) \u2013 therapeutic centre for lepers. The film was made for 7 years. \u201eLong Day Tomorrow\u201d was released in cinemas in Poland. The film received awards in Chicago, New Zealand, Firenze and Warsaw. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2011 he is an expert of Polish Film Institute. In collaboration with the Polish Consulate in Toronto, he leads film workshops with Polish Canadian students – \u201eWe the Poles\u201d. Pawe\u0142 is the founder and owner of Black and White Productions film production company. He lives in Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n
