The book was translated into more than 20 languages, it won the prestigous Paszport Polityki Prize and was made into a movie directed by Xawery \u017bu\u0142awski. Since then, she has written several novels and plays, and she became a celebrated literary figure in Poland. Her second book, a rap-poem,&nbsp;<em>The Queen\u2019s Peacock (Paw Kr\u00f3lowej, 2005)<\/em>&nbsp;won the Nike Literary Award. In 2006 Mas\u0142owska\u2019s debut play,&nbsp;<em>A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians,<\/em>&nbsp;was commissioned and staged by the TR Warszawa theater, and it has since been produced in London, Berlin, Prague, Moscow, Chicago and New York. &nbsp;Her second play,&nbsp;<em>No Matter How Hard We Tried<\/em>, was commissioned by TR Warszawa and Berlin\u2019s Schaub\u00fchne and premiered in Berlin at the Internationales Autorenfestival in March 2009. These two plays received &nbsp;early readings at the Segal Center. Mas\u0142owska also wrote a poem for children,&nbsp;<em>How I became a Witch<\/em>, which has been sucessfully adapted for the stage. Her 2012 novel&nbsp;<em>Honey, I Killed Our Cats<\/em>&nbsp;was Mas\u0142owska\u2019s second novel translated into English and published in 2019 by Deep Vellum. Her latest novel&nbsp;<em>Other People<\/em>&nbsp;has been translated into a multi-media performance by Grzegorz Jarzyna at TR Warszawa and was adapted for a motion picture directed by Aleksandra Terpinska and released in 2021.&nbsp;In 2014 Mas\u0142owska&nbsp;released her first music album,&nbsp;<em>Spo\u0142ecze\u0144stwo jest niemi\u0142e<\/em>&nbsp;<em>(Society is Mean)<\/em>, and introduced audiences to her alter ego &#8222;Mister D&#8221;. Moderated by Frank Hentschker.\nWatch a Zoom interview with the author of Segal Center\u2019s latest publication \u201cFour Plays by Dorota Mas\u0142owska,\u201d  followed by performances of the Trap Door Theater\u2019s \u201cBowie in Warsaw\u201d at The Bohemian National Hall at 7:30 p.m. on both Friday, Saturday as part of The Rehearsal for Truth Festival 2023 and In Jersey City Theatre center on Sunday, June 4th at 7pm as a part of Voices International Theater Festival.\nFour Plays by Dorota Mas\u0142owska includes:- No Matter How Hard We Try, translated by Artur Zapalowski- A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians translated by Benjamin Paloff- How I Became a Witch, translated by Artur Zapalowski- Bowie in Warsaw, translated by Soren Gauger\nDorota Mas\u0142owska is a Polish writer, playwright, journalist and singer\/songwriter. She was 19 when her debut novel, Wojna polsko-ruska pod flaga bia\u0142o-czerwon\u0105 (Snow White and Russian Red), was published and garnered massive critical acclaim in Poland. The book was translated into more than 20 languages, it won the prestigous Paszport Polityki Prize and was made into a movie directed by Xawery \u017bu\u0142awski. Since then, she has written several novels and plays, and she became a celebrated literary figure in Poland. Her second book, a rap-poem, The Queen\u2019s Peacock (Paw Kr\u00f3lowej, 2005) won the Nike Literary Award. In 2006 Mas\u0142owska\u2019s debut play, A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians, was commissioned and staged by the TR Warszawa theater, and it has since been produced in London, Berlin, Prague, Moscow, Chicago and New York.  Her second play, No Matter How Hard We Tried, was commissioned by TR Warszawa and Berlin\u2019s Schaub\u00fchne and premiered in Berlin at the Internationales Autorenfestival in March 2009. These two plays received  early readings at the Segal Center. Mas\u0142owska also wrote a poem for children, How I became a Witch, which has been sucessfully adapted for the stage. Her 2012 novel Honey, I Killed Our Cats was Mas\u0142owska\u2019s second novel translated into English and published in 2019 by Deep Vellum. Her latest novel Other People has been translated into a multi-media performance by Grzegorz Jarzyna at TR Warszawa and was adapted for a motion picture directed by Aleksandra Terpinska and released in 2021. In 2014 Mas\u0142owska released her first music album, Spo\u0142ecze\u0144stwo jest niemi\u0142e (Society is Mean), and introduced audiences to her alter ego \"Mister D\".
