The Greenpoint Film Festival<\/a> <\/strong>had its inception in 2011 founded and produced by Woven Spaces, INC. Built around a not-for-profit structure abiding by a simple purpose: to create a focal point in critically-acclaimed, thought-provoking, and upcoming filmmakers while simultaneously pushing the envelope in the local community and beyond. The festival is inspired by the stories yet untold and focuses on giving voices to the voiceless in the filmmaking industry while simultaneously bringing together the dazzling neighborhood of Greenpoint located in North Brooklyn. The themes of renewal and reclamation continue to play a major role in the social and creative fabric of the Greenpoint Film Festival as it constantly expands into a platform for thought-provoking and critically acclaimed stories, as well as a showcase for the fine arts and brilliant films. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GFF is also focused on expanding the local film network in North Brooklyn. The arts are historically-proven building blocks of stories that we tell our elders, our peers and our youth with hopes that more stories will sprout through the ages standing the test of time. The GFF is positioning itself to be a prime incentive of inspiration for the local community and economic development with fundamental tools for communicating trends and ideas. We support philosophical and social movements towards sustainable use of our resources, future-minded urban planning, and growing partnerships across several disciplines and ways of life. The Greenpoint Film Festival hopes to be a cornerstone of visionary commitment towards this end and a principal resource to artists and to the community of North Brooklyn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1980, one of the world’s most famous Polish directors, Krzysztof Kie\u015blowski<\/strong>, created a film entitled „Talking Heads.”<\/a> In 2023, young people have widely used or taken inspiration from fragments of the this film to create their own videos on TikTok. Often they do not know who these fragments come from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kie\u015blowski <\/strong>made his film in a way that was very simple, but also very effective. He asked two simple questions to people at each age from 1 to 100: „Who are you?” and „What do you want?” In 18 minutes he showed the whole life of a human being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the workshop, we will take inspiration from Kie\u015blowski’s film and the most successful attempts to remake it on social media. We will create short 1-2 minute videos (also using photos). These will be diaries of a single day-in-the-life, which we will put on a YouTubechannel created for this purpose. Viewed one by one, they will create a vivid and true portrait of the youth of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Instructor: PIOTR STASIK<\/strong> is a director of award-winning documentaries and feature films, screenwriter and cinematographer from Poland. Nominated for the European Film Award for the film „21 x New York”. His feature debut „Moths” was developed as part of the Biennale College at the Venice Film Festival. Piotr will be premiering his latest film „FILM FOR ALIENS” this year at the Greenpoint Film Festival on Saturday, August 5 at 2:30 PM.<\/p>\n\n\n

Often they do not know who these fragments come from.\nKie\u015blowski made his film in a way that was very simple, but also very effective. He asked two simple questions to people at each age from 1 to 100: \"Who are you?\" and \"What do you want?\" In 18 minutes he showed the whole life of a human being.\nDuring the workshop, we will take inspiration from Kie\u015blowski's film and the most successful attempts to remake it on social media. We will create short 1-2 minute videos (also using photos). These will be diaries of a single day-in-the-life, which we will put on a YouTubechannel created for this purpose.
