DESCRIPTION:The Polish Institute in Tel Aviv invites audiences to join a special
cinematic journey as part of the Jerusalem Film Festival 2026. We are proud
that Polish cinema is present every year at one of the most important film
events in Israel – and once again it holds a significant place in the
festival program.
This year’s selection brings together new Polish cinema, acclaimed at
leading international festivals across Europe, with classical works that
have become cornerstones of world cinema. Among them is a screening of a
film by Andrzej Wajda, marking the 100th anniversary of his birth – a
special event that revisits one of the greatest achievements of Polish
cinema.
In addition, director Rafael Kapelinski will visit the festival as a guest
of the Polish Institute and will meet the audience after the screening of
his film in a Q&A session.

Winter of the Crow (dir. Kasia Adamik)
Warsaw, December 1981. A British professor of psychiatry arrives in Poland.
With the imposition of martial law, she witnesses a crime committed by the
security forces and becomes entangled in a dangerous game with the
communist regime. A thriller based on Olga Tokarczuk’s short story
“Professor Andrews in Warsaw”.

Fatherland (dir. Paweł Pawlikowski)
The latest film by Paweł Pawlikowski follows German writer Thomas Mann and
his daughter Erika as they travel through divided Germany during the Cold
War. An intimate story about memory, exile, family ties, and historical
responsibility.

The Promised Land (dir. Andrzej Wajda)
A monumental adaptation of Władysław Reymont’s novel and one of the
masterpieces of Polish cinema. Three young entrepreneurs – a Pole, a
German, and a Jew – attempt to build a fortune in industrial Łódź at
the end of the 19th century. A special screening marking the 100th
anniversary of Andrzej Wajda’s birth.

A moving drama set in Central Europe, exploring memory, identity, and the
