DESCRIPTION:Salon Polin, a series of meetings organized by the Polish Institute in Tel
Aviv, offers an opportunity to meet artists, creators, and cultural
figures, discover their work and explore the connections between art,
culture, and Poland. Previous guests have included Adina Bar-On, Sabina
Cegla, Agata Woźniczka, and Ofir Hovav.
In September 2026, we expanded the Salon Poland concept into an Atelier
format – a space where encounters with culture and creativity also happen
through hands-on experience. Participants can learn new techniques, work
with materials, experiment, and create together. For this new initiative,
we are partnering with CRAFTED, a Tel Aviv creative studio dedicated to
arts and crafts, founded by Avigail Motchnik, a graduate of Shenkar’s
Fashion Design Department, out of a love for handcrafts and a belief in the
power of the creative process.
Folk embroidery is an important and diverse part of Poland’s traditional
handicrafts. Over the years, distinct regional styles have developed across
the country, featuring colorful patterns, motifs inspired by nature and
plants, rich compositions, and a variety of stitches and techniques. Beyond
their beauty and aesthetic appeal, these crafts are also part of Poland’s
cultural memory, passing down knowledge, imagery, and traditions from one
generation to the next.
During the workshop, we will explore Polish folk embroidery, look at
traditional patterns, and discover how they can inspire contemporary
creations. We will learn the basics of classic embroidery, practice key
stitches, and work on a personal project that combines traditional motifs
with individual interpretation.
Each participant will create a unique embroidered piece of their own design
and take home a handmade creation.
The workshops will be led by Naama Shohat, a multidisciplinary artist and
embroidery workshop instructor. They are open to beginners, and no previous
experience is required – just curiosity and a willingness to try
something new and enjoy an evening or morning of shared creativity.
