The Institute encourages translators to translate Polish literature into foreign languages and foreign publishers to publish them. The scope of the Institute\u2019s activity also embraces other art forms that interact with literature, and, moreover, it deals with literature and literary education. The team of the Institute\u2019s employees and collaborators consists of individuals who work with literary issues but also create literature. In order to implement its mission, as one of its programmes, the Institute conducts publishing activity such as the quarterly \u201cNowy Napis. Liryka, epika, dramat\u201d (New Inscription. Poetry. Epics, Drama\u201d. A permanent series published by the Institute is \u201cMr. Cogito\u2019s Library\u201d consisting of scientific monographs on modern literature crafted by the most prominent Polish and foreign researchers. It publishes the most important works of Polish and world literature including prose, essays and literary reviews and it conducts educational, translation and scientific activities. The main thrust of PIW\u2019s activity is focused on literature, however, the publishing house also publishes essays and works on history. The most well-known series among the latter are \u201cThe Lineage of Civilisation\u201d, \u201cThe Library of Contemporary Thought\u201d and the \u201cBiographies of Famous People\u201d.
