Marking almost two years since Irit Amiel\u2019<\/em>s death, the event will be held in Polish on December 16, 2022 (Friday) at 11:00 am at the Polish Institute\u2019s Library in Tel Aviv.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the center of our panel will be a book \u201cOstatnie Fastrygi\u201d \u2013 an interview with Irit Amiel held by her literary secretary Agnieszka Pi\u015bkiewicz-Bornstein, published in 2021 by the University of Silesia Press. Along Agnieszka Pi\u015bkiewicz we will host also Maria Lewi\u0144ska, a Polish-Israeli writer and a friend of the belated poet. Both guests will who will share their memories about their friendship with Amiel and reflections on her works.<\/span><\/p>\n

Irit Amiel, born in Cz\u0119stochowa as Irena Librowicz (1931 \u2013 2021) was an Israeli poet, writer, and translator of Polish origin. <\/span><\/p>\n

Her works he wrote mostly in Polish, emphasizing her strong bond with her mother tongue. Her novels and poetry were well received in Poland, where in the years 2000 and 2008 <\/span><\/p>\n

she was twice nominated for the Nike Literary Award \u2013 the most prestigious literary award in Poland.<\/span><\/p>\n

Event about the book “Ostatnie fastrygi”, an interview with the late author Irit Amiel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

She had a great hunger for the Polish language, speaking Polish, reading books and newspapers in Polish. We never spoke Hebrew, although we knew the language<\/em> – said Agnieszka Pi\u015bkiewicz-<\/span><\/p>\n

Bornstein, Irit Amiel’s longtime literary secretary and the author of the book “Last Tacks”, which was published in 2021 by the University of Silesia Publishing House.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the literary morning at the Library of the Polish Institute on December 16, two women close to Irit Amiel met, each knowing the author from a different perspective. <\/span><\/p>\n

Agnieszka Pi\u015bkiewicz-<\/span>Bornstein – accompanying the poet for many years as a manager and secretary, and Maria Lewi\u0144ska – a writer and close friend of the late author.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her husband did not know Polish<\/em> – said Maria Lewi\u0144ska – And her children, like all our children, did not learn the language. What can you do with such a broken heart? Who will we talk to?<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

It was the sincere conversation between Pi\u015bkiewicz-Bornstein and Irit Amiel that turned into a kind of autobiographical journey entitled “Ostatnie fastrygi”. In the long interview, Irit Amiel <\/span><\/p>\n

undertook to analyze and comment on her own work. Usually reluctant to reveal personal details, the author opened up to her interlocutor, revealing many hitherto unknown stories, sharing her <\/span><\/p>\n
